Mjejane River Lodge is located on the southern boundary of the Kruger National Park, an area known for its superb game viewing. Guests frequently sight the Big Five during their stay, along with cheetah, hippo, wild dog and a large variety of antelope. Birdlife is prolific with over 450 species recorded. Raptor sightings include Martial, Tawny and Fish Eagles as well as Steppe Buzzards.

Location and Accessibility

The Mjejane Game Reserve is indeed located between the towns of Malelane and Komatipoort in Mpumalanga, South Africa, along the southern border of the Kruger National Park. It is approximately 406 km (about a 4-5 hour drive) from Johannesburg, making it a convenient getaway for those traveling from the city.

Airports

The closest airport to the Mjejane Game Reserve is Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA), located near White River, about 80 km (roughly 1 hours' drive) from the reserve. This airport offers regular domestic flights from major South African cities like Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban, as well as some regional flights.

For international travelers, arriving at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg and then taking a connecting flight to KMIA or driving to the reserve is a common route.

No, you have to use the Malelane or Crocodile Bridge Gates to enter Kruger National Park.

How much is the conservation fee at Mjejane?

Mjejane Game Reserve Road Levy for the lodges will be R350 per vehicle per 7 day stay and will need to be paid at the Mjejane Gate by card on arrival. Please see each lodge page for SIUC Levy costs.

Is there Wi-Fi or cell service at the lodges?

Yes, most lodges have Wi-Fi and cell service available. However, due to the remote location, connectivity may occasionally be limited or slower than in urban areas, but still good enough for online meetings and working.

Are Parties allowed in the Mjejane Game Reserve lodges?

No. Making excessive noise of any kind (music, shouting etc.) will not be tolerated. Please respect all other residents / guests at MGR.
