Airline Experiences and Reviews

Here are some experiences and reviews from passengers who have flown with different airlines on similar routes:

Austrian Airlines

One thing I really liked about Austrian Airlines was that the flight attendants were very kind, and the in-flight entertainment offered many choices. One thing that could be improved is the meal service, since only a vegetarian option was offered - it would be better to have at least two choices.

However, some passengers have reported issues with food quality on flights from LAX to Vienna. Despite the booked seats in front of the land we were moved to the back of the plane even first like 8 lines were totally without pasangers. When I tried to sit on empty seat flight attendant asked me to go to my dedicated seat in the fully crowded back of the plane. She was not able to explain why. Food was very poor on flight LAX - VIE.

Austrian Airlines help and service was fine, but Kayak misled us into believing we had purchased a Business Class ticket. In fact, the tickets were only upgraded Coach Class tickets with luggage restrictions that belonged to the Coach Class. Very disappointed! Paid over $$$$ 9K for the two tickets. Very disappointing!

Qatar Airways

My flight was with American Airlines 120. The flight was delayed 3 hours and I missed my connection. Eventually a Qatar Air staff member helped rebook me on a flight to Manila, that was 12 hours later. They offered me a hotel and meal voucher which I declined, because I didn’t want to leave the airport. Long story short, I spent 12 hours in the Doha airport waiting for my next flight.

Overall the experience was neat with crew being nice and caring especially to parent with kids. The free snacks option was okay. The kiosk at Philly airport didn’t work.

Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia)

I recently flew with Saudi Arabian Airlines, and it was truly an outstanding experience from start to finish. The staff were exceptionally polite, professional, and attentive throughout the journey. Check-in was smooth and well-organized, and boarding was efficient and on time. The cabin was spotless and comfortable, with plenty of legroom and a calm, welcoming atmosphere. The in-flight service was top-notch - meals were delicious and offered with generous portions, and the crew made sure every passenger was well taken care of. I also appreciated the wide range of entertainment options, including movies, music, and TV shows in multiple languages. The flight was punctual, and the overall experience reflected the airline’s strong commitment to hospitality and passenger satisfaction. Without a doubt, I’d highly recommend Saudia to anyone traveling within the region or internationally. Their service quality easily matches - and often surpasses - many top global airlines. I’m looking forward to flying with them again!

Turkish Airlines

This is my 2nd time with the Turkish airline. Would definitely recommend. In stability we connected to Indiago would not recommend, very cramped seating. No inflight entertainment..service was inferior.

Paying extra for premium seats was wasted. Turkish Airlines takes 2 seats for bassinet. The lady next to me had a baby with bassinet Bassinet was in front of my seat.

My experience was great with Turkish airlines . the problem i encountered was with kayak booking. When I booked . it showed that im allowed a bag . and when I got to the airport, i had to pay $165 for one bag.

Not up to Business Class standards. Two of the three toilets were out of order. The hostesses were aware and didn’t show any responsible act to do something. Food quality was not what we expect from Turkish hospitality. Overall we were not impressed and disappointed.

Ethiopian Airlines

The food was terrible and the seating was uncomfortable, but the airline did a great thing letting us board in Abbis Ababa on our connecting flight after our original flight was very delayed.

Traveling with Ethiopian is always a good experience. I also enjoy the stay at skylight hotel in Addis.

The flight is packed and it feels like the space per individual has gotten smaller.

Common Issues and Complaints

Some passengers have reported issues with lost or damaged luggage. Damage lagguage, They lost the stroller and car seat which they found after 4 days, and on the way back they damaged the stroller. Same situation saudi lost my pram and car seat and damaged lagguage.

My gag was left at liayad airport when I landed at jeddah airport 9 am I waited for my bags at jeddah airport till 2.45 pm almost 6 hrs bad very bad.

Delays delays making us miss or next connection to IAD hence having to stay additional 24 hrs in Addis Ababa.

Our first flight was delayed and when we got off that plane, nobody was really helping to direct us to the next gate. It was very frustrating. One staff simply said hurry, which wasn’t helpful. We had to go a long way to get to the next gate. Another issue on the plane itself was the bathrooms were disgusting and filthy and it didn’t seem like anybody was checking on them were cleaning them and it was a long flight. There was urine on the floor and they stunk. Also, the screen in front of my seat did not work, and I tried different headphones and still had no sound. You would think somehow those things are reviewed occasionally for working order.

POSITIVES The hostesses were mostly pleasant, NEGATIVES The full flight wifi was horrible, hardly able to use it. My charger port was not working which made me use my neighbour's port which resulted in an accident which ruined her flight. During dinner, meat ran out when the cart got to us forcing us to eat vegetarian which was not great. We watched everyone around us eating meat. My wifi did not transfer to the second leg of my trip as they promised as they changed the plane. I was thrown off the window seat I booked for the 2nd leg of my journey as they changed planes, all done at my expense. This was not a cheap flight ($2600) which i hurriedly had to book to attend my mother's funeral who passed away suddenly. I was honestly disappointed with the whole saga as I heard Ethiopian Airlines was one of Africa's best.

Here's a summary of potential issues and considerations:

Airline Pros Cons
Austrian Airlines Kind flight attendants, good in-flight entertainment Limited meal options (vegetarian only), potential food quality issues
Qatar Airways Helpful staff during disruptions Possible delays, reliance on partner airlines (e.g., American Airlines)
Saudi Arabian Airlines Polite and attentive staff, clean cabins, good in-flight service Luggage issues
Turkish Airlines Generally positive experiences Inconsistent baggage allowances, Business Class standards may not meet expectations
Ethiopian Airlines Accommodation during delays Food quality, uncomfortable seating, packed flights

Before booking, always check the latest reviews and consider factors like layover times, baggage allowances, and potential for delays.
