Erin Barnett's Journey on 'Love Island Australia'

In the first season of the Australian edition of ‘Love Island,’ a 23-year-old nurse from Melbourne, Erin Barnett, and a 25-year-old prison officer from Sydney, Eden Dally, signed up for the show as two potential Islanders. They got paired together and were the only couple to choose to be together from day 1 to day 35. This eventually helped them emerge as the runner-up position on the show.

On the first day of the series, the boys and girls were asked to pick out their partners. Without hesitation, both Eden and Erin went for each other. Erin even made it clear to her fellow contestants that Eden was hers and no one else was to consider trying to take him away. But, the warnings weren’t enough for Erin to control her jealous streak.

When she first saw the new entrant, Kim, she quickly picked out that she was Eden’s type. The speculations were only put to rest when Eden himself made it clear that despite finding Kim attractive, his loyalties remained with Erin. However, when Millie kissed Eden as a part of the game, Erin’s jealous rage once again came to the fore. Game or no game, she didn’t want anyone eyeing her man, leading her to dislike Millie.

To convince Erin that his feelings for her were genuine, Eden shared a poem he’d written for her. Despite the occasional friction due to Erin’s continued jealousy bouts and Eden’s promises of loyalty, the pair became a threat to the others. They became the first couple of the season to confess their love for each other when a smitten Eden said, “I feel like I’m falling in love with you.” This was followed by an intimate proposal, asking Erin to be his girlfriend, leading the latter to happily oblige and turning them into the first official couple of the villa.

Eden also made his commitment known when a lie detector test proved that he wasn’t into Millie. On their final date, Eden and Erin decided to discuss life beyond the villa. While he was excited to meet her family, she made her decision of wanting to move to Sydney for him clear. They confessed their love for each other one last time before the grand finale and vowed to be with each other, irrespective of the outcome.

Even though they seemed happy, there was trouble in Eden and Erin’s paradise. They decided to part ways a few weeks after the season wrapped up. The pair broke up in September 2018 and shared a joint statement that read, “We look back and cherish the time we have spent together, the memories we have created, in both Spain and in Australia.

Life After 'Love Island'

After their split, both Eden and Erin moved on in their lives and have since found happiness. Eden is currently dating season 6 ‘Married at First Sight’ alum Cyrell Jiminez-Paule. The couple have an adorable son together named Boston, who was born in February 2020. Eden also appeared in ‘SAS: Australia’ season 1, which aired in 2020. He was dealt a devastating emotional blow when his longtime pet, Precious, passed away in January 2024.

Meanwhile, Erin appeared on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ in 2020. Despite not being lucky in love in her past, Erin kept her heart open and finally found her “one true love” when she met Mick Russell, who is a proud father to three kids. She went public with the relationship update in December 2018. The couple, currently living together in Melbourne, got engaged in November 2023. Erin shared the happy news with her ardent followers on social media.

Not one to mince words or let any negativity affect her, Erin slammed the haters by stating, “Yes I am dating an older man. No he isn’t my ‘sugar daddy.’” She further clarified, “I am so lucky to be with a man who treats me with respect and makes me truly happy every single day.” The couple has two adorable pet dachshunds named Slinky and Cookie.

Sarah Fischer's Experience on 'Love Island SA'

This week marked the end of the road on Sarah Fischer’s Love Island SA journey. A whirlwind relationship, steamy scenes and a shock dumping- there's no doubt blonde bombshell Sarah Fischer has had quite a ride. Emotions ran high when the Centurion beauty bid farewell to her fellow Love Island SA contestants this week. "I just want to tell you guys that I love you all and today I do feel like my journey is over," she said. "I think I'm ready to go home." Despite her rather tumultuous time on the show, she wouldn't change a thing.

"I have no regrets," she tells YOU. "I remained true to myself and never changed for anyone or any situation."

Contestants in the villa had to vote off either Sarah, an industrial design student, or Summer Da Cruz (21), a Hooters girl and professional dancer. Sarah's name was called and it was time to pack her bags and close the door on this chapter in her journey to find love.

It came down to Sarah or Summer Da Cruz leaving the villa but after the other contestants voted, it was time for Sarah to pack her bags.

The South African version of the international series started last month by featuring 10 contestants who were divided into couples in front of the cameras. They immediately share a bed and things can get physical before new contestants are welcomed into the villa, wreaking havoc in relationships. Each contestant's aim is to stay in the villa for as long as possible and by the end of the series, viewers vote for their favourite couple who win the R1 million prize money - and sometimes each other's hearts. With a house filled with sexy singles and a million bucks at stake, drama is bound to follow.

"My initial expectation was to stay in the villa till the end, but things happen and events occurred which made me realise I was ready to go," Sarah says.

The 25-year-old made her mark quickly after entering as a "bombshell" contestant who came into the villa to try find a connection of her own - even if it meant driving a deeper wedge between newly split couple Asad Boomgaard and Erin Japtha. She was initially attracted to Cape Town fitness trainer Durang Atembe (22), but she quickly got over that and set her sights on Johannesburg personal trainer Asad (24). The two coupled up and cuddled up, steaming up our screens and giving people in the villa - especially the boys - a lot to talk about.

"There's a lot the audience doesn't see what happens behind closed doors," she says. "You are with a bunch of people 24/7 so you form bonds a lot quicker than you would in the outside world."

You sleep in the same room, you shower in the same bathroom, you eat together so you get to know them very well. With Asad, I felt like I'd known him for years. Although it got steamy seemingly quickly, I don't regret it because it felt right at the time and it was special because I have feelings for him. It wasn't a hump-and-dump situation."

Asad called time on their two-week relationship, which was more painful for Sarah than getting dumped from the show.

Sarah admits to feeling blindsided by the sudden break-up, but it became clear from Asad's conversations with the other contestants that the "butterflies" were never really there for him when it came to Sarah.

"I was shocked that he ended it because the night before he was telling me how much he cares about me and how he doesn't ever want to see me get hurt, so that was very confusing," Sarah says.

It's one thing to have your heart broken but another to have it aired on international television - along with laying bare your bedroom secrets all to see, including your parents. What's Sarah's take on this?

"My parents raised me to be very independent and they are always supportive of what I do," she says.

Sarah said she'd go through the whole experience again in a heartbeat if she could. She may have been considered as one of the more mature contestants in the villa, but there were no holds barred when it came to her potty mouth and carefree attitude.

'Temptation Island': Another Reality TV Show

Four local couples put their relationship through the ultimate test in ‘Temptation Island South Africa’. Temptation Island is an American reality television series originally broadcast by Fox. The series premiered on January 10, 2001, and it concluded with its third season on September 29, 2003. Temptation Island depicted four unmarried couples who traveled to a tropical island to have their fidelity tested. The couples were separated from one another for two weeks, in which they were required to commingle with a group of single members of the opposite sex whose purpose was to persuade the couples to have an affair.

The series drew intense backlash due to its controversial premise; however, it averaged high ratings over the course of its first season. The series is hosted by American television presenter Mark L.

In 2018, USA Network announced that it planned to revive Temptation Island. The first season of this revival premiered on January 15, 2019. The first season of the show was filmed on Ambergris Caye in Belize.

Season 1 premiered on January 10, 2001, and aired its finale on February 28, 2001. The debut episode drew 16 million viewers.[1] The show attracted controversy from the outset,[2][3] which Fox hoped would drive ratings. Four male contestants lived in one section with a dozen female models, and the four female contestants lived in another section with a dozen attractive men. The initial couples were Kaya Wittenburg and Valerie Penso, Mandy Lauderdale and Billy Cleary, Ytossie Patterson and Taheed Watson, and Andy Lukei and Shannon Roghair. Producers removed Patterson and Watson from the show when they learned that the pair had children together.

Season 2 premiered on October 31, 2001, and delivered poor ratings.[4] After a nearly two-year layoff, a third edition of the series premiered on August 28, 2003. Mark L. Walberg hosted all three editions.

Temptation Island received mixed reviews from critics.
