South Africa's Chase

South Africa follow not far behind, they're in a fantastic position. Still no breakthrough for Sri Lanka and it is surely a matter of when, rather than if, South Africa win this game.

Laura Wolvaardt goes to 50 from 41 balls with consecutive boundaries off Kavisha Dilhari. The first of them is the classic cover drive, elegant as ever and into the gap at extra. That's followed up by a big slog-sweep.

Laura Wolvaardt is still going strong, hitting a trademark cover drive beautifully for four, while Tazmin Brits - though still struggling a tad - shows her power again with a thumping shot back over the bowler's head.

She survived a review for lbw the ball before after being hit on the back leg by Kavisha Dilhari's off spinner. It was close but only clipping leg stump - umpire's call and it stays not out.

Here come Harshitha Samarawickrama and Kavisha Dilhari for Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka need wickets. Plenty of them.

After two close-fought games where their middle order rescued them, South Africa's openers have powered them to a commanding 10-wicket win in Colombo, after they were almost robbed of a point by rain. Wolvaardt and Brits followed up a very good bowling display by finishing their 121-run chase with a little over five overs to spare after the game was reduced to 20 overs a side. It was a struggle for bowlers and fielders of both sides after the rain due to the wet, slippery ball and outfield, but Sri Lanka couldn't get enough on the board and Wolvaardt and Brits made short work of their bowling.

Klaas gave them a good start with the key wicket of Athapaththu among her two. But then rain came with 12 overs played and threatened to wash the game out. But excellent work from the groundstaff meant we got a game in at the last possible minute and the weather Gods played nice after that. Sri Lanka added 59 runs in the eight overs they had, but it proved to be not quite enough.

Post-Match Analysis

Excellent work from the groundstaff meant we got a game in at the last possible minute and the weather Gods played nice after that.

South Africa jump up to the second spot with this win and have one foot in the semi-finals.

While the South African fielders struggled to cope with the slippery ball, their openers were happy to face it chasing a revised target of 121.

Captain Laura Wolvaardt was the aggressor from the word go and ensured that her team was always ahead of the rate. Brits played the second fiddle but she too showed her hitting prowess.

Both the openers brought up their fifties as the Proteas wrapped up the proceedings with 31 balls to spare.

After the game was reduced to 20 overs a side, Wolvaardt and Brits finished their 121-run chase with a little over five overs to spare following up a very good bowling display.
