Lynx Africa Body Spray: A Comprehensive Review

Lynx Africa Body Spray has maintained its popularity for many years, and this review aims to explore why. From its scent profile to its longevity and overall appeal, we delve into the details of this iconic fragrance. Lynx are renowned for discontinuing their scents if they feel they have run their course, and the fact Africa (Kilo in the USA) is still going strong (since 1995) suggests it's popularity is still as high today as it was in the 90s.

Scent Profile

Africa is decent, and I immediately recognized this when applying. It has an intense familiarity to me. There aren't that many distinct notes to my nose at all, aside from a vanillic citrus tone. Underneath it, it's a blue, woody melange of a boyish aroma that smells super blended, and super soapy. I can pick notes of vanilla and musk, but they are not done in a nice way.

Many find the scent similar to Gaultier Le Male or Rochas Man, with a heavy vanilla aroma. This has everything a good fragrance needs: good longevity, great projection, sillage, and even some wearability. Another watery-musky-vanillic smell with liquid lavender and smooth and soapy elements particularly synthetic and cheap. It is also one of the greatest cheap fragrance ever created. A very vanilla/sweet scent that has seriously stood the test of time.

Masculine Appeal

I'm a woman and generally prefer more feminine things, but occasionally I love smelling clean and woody. Again, the operative word for this is "soft", and the vanillic base is nice. I believe in wearing what you like regardless of gender of course, but if I had to use generalities I'd say this is 75% classically masculine, but some women (like myself) might enjoy it if applied with a light hand. Still, this has that undeniable *Axe* DNA which always strongly reminds me of the 2000s.

Longevity and Projection

Africa/Kilo is one of the strongest deodorants/body sprays. Longevity is fantastic, especially for a deodorant. I don't remember having any longevity problems with this one. The projection is great too. Sillage and projection are average.

Be sure people feel your scent. They may even compliment and think you have Le Male on lol. I remember I didn't tell people I have Axe on. You can actually fool people in the fact that you are wearing Le Male. This is really funny, because they believe it.

Value and Accessibility

Gorgeous fragrance for smelling good on the go! Particularly after a Gym Shower! Great value as mentioned great vanilla/lavender take. For 4 bucks what do you expect. Lasts about an hour. Good entry level start for teens. Axe/Link is basicly, a line of forgettable, unremarkable, cheap miserable "fragrances" that are sold in the same place from where you buy your food. Sorry, but that is the truth.

Well, its 2007, and today when I was at the supermarket, I was in the personal hygiene aisle seeking out a change in deoderant. I after persuing various brands, I moved on to Lynx...The memories came flooding back...god aweful memories...That last time I recall ever thinking about Lynx deoderants was somewhere around 2000/2001.Lynx, as another basenoter here said, defined the end of the nineties.

Final Thoughts

Lynx is, essentially, a line of unremarkable supermarket toiletries, but Africa does stand out with its distinctly sweet/fruity and spicy tone, balanced by sweet-smelling woods (I think). This scent should serve as an example to the company that the demand for the older scents are currently very high, with the fact that Africa is STILL the biggest selling Lynx variant in the UK despite the numerous newer scents released. Possibly a good entry-level cologne for a teenage male, but seriously uncool for grown-ups.

What I appreciate about this one is that it's less *piercing* than other Axe scents that I've smelled...that have a high-pitched blueness. This is the only decent scent under the Lynx brand. Believe me. I've tried most of them. That's why it still out sells all the other versions after 18 years on the market. I have this on my everday wear rotation. A harsh synthetic-smelling scent.
