The establishment comprises of two Victorian houses that have been expertly renovated and individually decorated with beautiful fabrics, colors and textures. Originally two separate Victorian family homes, the former owners connected the houses with a courtyard garden, resulting in a luxury guesthouse full of detail and character.
The guest house is situated on a quiet residential street, a short distance from Cape Town’s lively Kloof Street. It is a lovely place to relax and unwind or, because of its central location, is a great base from which guests can take a stroll through the city and visit some of the well-renowned restaurants or buzzing bars in the area. For travellers who are comfortable being a little more independent, Welgelegen positions you very centrally for easy access to a number of eateries/bars/galleries along Kloof Street and beyond.
Located in City Bowl, defined by Signal Hill, Lion's Head, Table Mountain, and Devil's Peak, the hotel is within striking distance of trendy Kloof Street and its shops, boutiques, and restaurants. The hotel is also just minutes away from the famous shopping center and working docks of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, known as the V & A.

Welgelegen Boutique Guest House has thirteen individually styled and well-appointed en-suite rooms featuring Wi-Fi, air conditioning, complimentary homemade cookies and fresh fruit. Most rooms have a balcony or terrace with mountain views.
Each and every room at the stunning Welgelegen Guest House is the only one of its own kind present in the hotel and it is very clear that the owners have an eye for decorating everything perfectly. All the rooms in the hotel are fashionably minimal but with solicitous touches like toweling dressing gowns and home baked fresh biscuits to make guests feel at home. Welgelegen has thirteen luxury, air-conditioned, en suite bedrooms, all of them come with crisp white cotton bedding, duck down duvets, king-sized beds and aromatherapy toiletries.

The family room can comfortably accommodate a family of four with a king bed and two twin beds. A third single bed can be added for a third child.

The hotel’s common areas include a spacious sitting room and library that lead to a large breakfast room. The breakfast room lets out onto a cobbled courtyard and a plunge pool. An expansive, high ceilinged sitting room and a cozy library adjoin the spacious breakfast room, all of which are decorated using contemporary furnishings and heterogeneous African art.
The stylish lounge is comfortable and sophisticated with its velvet sofas and sink-in armchairs, and there’s a selection of reading material for those wishing to settle in with a good book. Welgelegen Guest House has a leafy inner courtyard with a comfortable seating arrangement, where guests can relax after busy days exploring the city. There’s a small plunge pool too, and shaded sunloungers for cooling off in the heat of the day. Curl up next to the fire with a glass of port and a book on a chilly winter’s night or, come summer, kick back in the sunny, fragrant courtyard next to the cool plunge pool.

Day trips can be arranged and transportation is also available upon request at the concierge service. The Gardens can be reached in a 5-minute walk and the 24-hour front desk staff can arrange private tours. It was wonderful that we could easily find parking near our guesthouse for our rental car with no worries. Welgelegen has a new in-house vehicle and guides for tailor-made tours.

The staff at Welgelegen really made our stay there memorable, from the quality of food at breakfast to their help in guiding us around city. Welgelegen was gorgeous and the breakfast spreads were just as appealing. Welgelegen Guest House people were very warm and took excellent care of us. Welgelegen was great. We all loved the place we stayed in Cape Town.
The location was great, we walked to Kloof Street most evenings for dinner. Fiona & her staff go out of their way to help. Well situated between Table Mountain & the historical tourist sites. The guest house in Cape Town was beautiful and both Fiona and Colleen, were the friendliest and most helpful hostesses we have met. They booked taxi’s, restaurants and tours and nothing was too much trouble.
