Pratt & Whitney, a world leader in the design, manufacture, and service of aircraft engines and auxiliary power units, is significantly expanding its global footprint with a new manufacturing facility in Morocco. This strategic investment aims to enhance the company's competitiveness, optimize its operations, and support the growing aerospace industry in the region.
Pratt & Whitney Canada, a subsidiary of RTX, celebrated the inauguration of its new manufacturing plant, Pratt & Whitney Maroc (PWM), located in Casablanca. Maria Della Posta, president of Pratt & Whitney Canada, highlighted the strategic importance of this move, stating that Morocco offers numerous advantages for aerospace manufacturing.
“Morocco offers many benefits for aerospace manufacturing," said Maria Della Posta, president, Pratt & Whitney Canada. "The growing aerospace community in Casablanca ensures a highly valuable talent pool, a positive economic environment, and the support from Morocco's government."
Strategic Investment and Expansion
This investment is key to Pratt & Whitney's strategy to develop cost-effective sourcing capabilities for competitiveness and to optimize operations footprint and asset utilization. The new facility, spanning over 12,000 square meters, will produce detailed static and structural machined parts for the company’s aircraft engines.
The facility will be built in Casablanca’s Aerospace Focused Free Zone, an industrial park specifically targeting aerospace production systems. The free zone was designed to offer tax incentives and other benefits for aerospace manufacturing.

The aeronautical sector in Morocco accounts for about 140 companies with about $2 billion in exports, according to the International Trade Administration.
Facility construction began in Q4 2023 to ensure a successful launch in 2025.
Job Creation and Economic Impact
The establishment of Pratt & Whitney Maroc (PWM) is expected to create 200 new jobs locally by 2030. The company has already begun the recruitment process in partnership with the Institute of Aeronautics Professions (IMA).
«This large-scale project is part of the upgrade of the Moroccan aeronautics base by integrating a cutting-edge, innovative, and technologically demanding activity», declared Ryad Mezzour in a press release.
As of today, the company has started hiring employees with the support of the Institut des Métiers de l’Aéronautique (IMA).

The representative of the Moroccan Ministry of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies (MICEPP) noted that "P&W investment in Morocco will strengthen our aerospace ecosystem by fostering innovation, research, and the development of new technologies. It will create job opportunities for our talented youth, foster knowledge transfer, and promote collaboration between local and international stakeholders".
Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade of Morocco, added: “Today, we are witnessing the completion of this great project from Pratt & Whitney with the laying of the first stone. Don’t let policy changes catch you off guard.
Advanced Manufacturing and Sustainability
This 130,000-square-foot new greenfield facility will be built with lean principles and CORE methodology to drive efficiency and quality and reduce costs. PWM is being built with lean operating principles to drive efficiency, improve quality, and reduce complexity and costs. It will also incorporate advanced environmental practices, a core value for the company.
According to the company, the new plant would create 200 jobs by 2030.

This investment is a vital part of the company's ability to produce engines to meet strong demand and brings Pratt & Whitney closer to its African customer base and partners, which allows it to further support the aerospace growth in this region.
Once operational, Pratt & Whitney Maroc will complement Pratt & Whitney Canada’s current manufacturing sites and supply chain, helping to secure parts to meet the strong global customer demand.
