Nestled atop the Oloololo Escarpment in the Maasai Mara, Kilima Camp offers a unique blend of luxury and adventure for an unforgettable African safari experience. To reach the camp, visitors travel up a steep road, through a wooded valley, to the top of the Oloololo Escarpment, where Kilima provides safari chic and incredible views.
Location and Accessibility
Kilima Camp Masai Mara is ideally located, bordering the Oloololo conservancy and just a 15-minute drive from the Mara Triangle (Oloololo gate). Situated at an elevation of 1850 meters, the camp offers magnificent views of the Mara River and Masai Mara below. The camp is approximately 6 hours by road or a 45-minute flight away (Kichwa Tembo is the nearest airstrip) from Nairobi.
Accommodation: Luxury Tents with Breathtaking Views
Kilima Camp Masai Mara features 15 luxury tents, comprising 12 classic safari tents and 3 deluxe tents. First impressions often count - and guests are astounded on first sight of the entrance and communal areas within Kilima, due to the levels of luxury and relaxation on offer. Kilima’s tented accommodation has been designed with tranquillity, luxury and space in mind. All of the rooms are spread out across the hill so you will have plenty of privacy - and each has a veranda with views of the river and plains below, the perfect place to look up at the night sky with your loved ones. It is like having your very own private sanctuary!
Each tent is spacious with a handmade bed, safe wooden floor, wooden deck with sunbeds, coffee table and chairs, and amazing views of the Mara plain. The tents all have wooden flooring, comfortable furnishings and an interior bathroom, which is light and airy. The bathrooms are fitted with flush toilets, running hot and cold water, and running hot showers. Twelve classic tents offer space for three guests with plenty of individual room, with three other deluxe tents being more suitable for families as they are larger in size and can accommodate up to five people.
Dining and Relaxation
The large main building is centrally located and offers a space to unwind with food, drinks, games or reading areas. There are 2 restaurants divided by a newly built bar lounge with fantastic views of the Mara River and Mara plain. Either side of the bar are two restaurants, both buffet style and with one featuring a fire, for those cooler winter evenings. A relatively newly built bar and lounge has an outlook over the plains and river of the Mara - many an hour can be spent with a whiskey or glass of wine in hand, as you look out at the wildlife, and later on admire the stars!

Kilima Camp’s food is homemade, nutritious, and simply delicious. The restaurant serves a selection of delectable meals made with fresh fruits and vegetables grown in their on-site eco-garden. The resort also offers vegetarian dishes and may meet particular dietary needs such as Kosher and Halal. Usual days starts with Coffee, tea, biscuits, and handmade cakes in the morning. Then followed by the Breakfast buffet with a choice of selections. Lunch is a delicious buffet with several vegetarian options. Finally, delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian dinner is served. After dinner, one can surely love a drink by the fireplace.
Outside holds a special atmosphere, with a bush bar and campfire offering guests the chance to relax with nature and stoke the fire while sharing stories of their day with fellow guests and staff members alike. A small spa area invites visitors in for a variety of treatments to soothe the soul. There is a spa with expansive panoramic views across the Masai Mara where guests can experience qualities of relaxation, stress relief, and beauty treatments.
Activities and Facilities
The primary focus is, of course, on guided vehicle safari, heading out early morning into the Mara Triangle to view wildlife and a vast array of animals. Game drive is of course the primary activity, which depart early in the morning to witness wildlife and a diverse assortment of creatures in the Mara Triangle. That is not all, though. You can book onto a walking safari with a local guide for an interpretative nature walk with an armed guard - these can include bush breakfasts and picnics, so you can eat out in the wild and live dangerously!
Unlike many other properties in Masai Mara, you can ride a horse into the Mara Triangle or enjoy a Night Game Drive into the plains. Most incredibly of all, you are in the perfect location to try a balloon safari and see the wild from high above!
