International Hospital Kampala (IHK)

The International Hospital Kampala is the largest private hospital in Uganda. IHK became operational in 2000 and was founded by Dr. Ian Clarke, a general practitioner and tropical medicine specialist, born in Northern Ireland. The hospital initially opened at a smaller premises in Old Kampala before relocating to its current home in 2004.

IHK is the only COHSASA-accredited hospital in Uganda, symbolizing its commitment to unparalleled patient care. The International Hospital Kampala is renowned for its advanced centers of excellence. Rescue services are provided within Uganda by road to a preferred health centre where possible. Hope Ward, an initiative started in 2006, aims to provide complex treatment for the destitute. It was initially a dedicated medical and surgical war, and was eventually turned into the paediatrics ward as there was more of a demand for this. Patients are now treated on the relevant wards. Availability of funding determines how many and how often patients are treated. Previous sponsors include Babulal Ruparelia, Stanbic Bank Uganda and Bead for Life.

CURE Uganda

Officially opened in Mbale, Uganda on January 19, 2001, CURE Uganda is one of Africa’s leading pediatric hospitals for brain surgery and the treatment of neurological conditions. It provides minimally-invasive endoscopic neurosurgical procedures and attracts surgeons from around the world to its prestigious CURE Neuro Fellowship Program.

The teaching hospital consists of three operating rooms, an 18-bed Intensive Care Unit, and 68 Ward beds. Hospital staff complete approximately 1,900 surgical procedures annually for children with conditions including hydrocephalus, spina bifida, brain tumors, and other neural tube defects. In addition to world-class clinical service, CURE Uganda ministers to the emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their communities.

GreatLakes Hospital

Fins Medical University (FMU), in a bid to provide quality Health Sciences Education, established the Great Lakes International Hospital to offer much-needed quality medical care. Opened in June 2021, the hospital serves as both a key service provider in the region and a critical element in developing the University’s department of Medicine by offering rarely available diagnosis and treatment services.
