In the city you can spend your time ticking off Accra’s modern bars, museums and nightlife, and discovering the country’s time-stamped past. Finish the day with a sundowner - and beautiful views - from one of Accra’s sky-scraping vantage points. Next, swap the hustle and bustle for a slower pace at one of the country’s many coastal towns.
Choose from the serene waters of Awangazule, to the palm-fringed shores of Akwidaa, known for its sea turtles. Make sure you venture out to visit one of Ghana’s several national parks too, which are home to spot-nosed monkeys and forest elephants.
Thanks to its proximity to the equator, Ghana is generally warm all year round, but it’s best to avoid the country’s two rainy seasons. There are over 28 UNESCO-approved forts and castles to discover, as well as vibrant communities like Jamestown, a port town home to a 92ft-tall lighthouse. The busy streets of Accra offer plenty to keep you busy too, from museums and markets to beaches and nightlife.
