Joseph van Vicker, born on August 1, 1977, is a celebrated Ghanaian actor, film director, and humanitarian, widely known as Van Vicker. He is also the CEO of Sky + Orange Productions, a prominent film production house.

Early Life and Education

Van Vicker was born in Accra, Ghana. His diverse heritage includes a Ghanaian and Liberian mother and a Dutch father. He attended Mfantsipim School, the same institution as fellow actor Majid Michel.

Personal Life

Van Vicker married Adjoa on October 16, 2003. In October 2024, Van Vicker and his wife celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary.

Career Beginnings

Vicker's journey in the entertainment industry began in radio, where he worked as a presenter at Groove 106.3 FM from 1999 to 2000 and Vibe 91.9fm from 2001 to 2004. He also gained experience as a television personality for TV3 Ghana from 1997 to 1999 and Metro TV from 2000 to 2004.

He appeared in the Ghanaian television series "Sun City," which depicted university life. Soon after, Vicker was cast in his first film, "Divine Love," as a supporting character.

Rise to Fame in Gollywood and Nollywood

Van Vicker is often cast as the male romantic lead, frequently acting alongside actresses like Jackie Appiah and Nadia Buari. He has appeared in numerous Nollywood films with prominent actors such as Tonto Dikeh, Mercy Johnson, Stephanie Okereke, Chika Ike, and Jim Iyke.

Van Vicker has acted in many movies, including the popular love triangle "Beyonce: The President's Daughter" series, "Mummy's Daughter", "Divine Love", "The American Boy", "Princess Tyra", "In the Eyes of My Husband", "Innocent Soul", and "Slave to Lust".

Since 2008, Vicker has directed, starred in, and produced five films under his Sky + Orange Productions. He owns and runs Sky + Orange, an advertising agency and event management company.

Vicker has been nominated for and won numerous awards from Africa to the Caribbean. His accolades include Ghana Movie Awards, ACRAG awards, and the Nollywood Academy Films Critics’ Awards. In 2009, he won Best African Caribbean Actor.

Van also runs the Van Vicker Foundation which reaches out to up and coming talent and discovers new talent to help them get their shot at acting. His first movie he wrote, directed, produced, and acted in is called 'Friday Night' and Van promises that this is the first of many movies to come from his production company Sky + Orange.
