Though Discord rose to prominence as a communication platform for gamers, it’s since become one of the primary ways for communities of all kinds to engage with one another. Discord’s global reach and feature-rich platform make it an excellent choice for communities looking to connect, communicate, and collaborate.
Discord’s impressive numbers are primarily due to the platform’s implementation of features focused on user-friendliness with minimal impact on system performance. Discord users can engage in voice and video calls, share screens, and create persistent chat rooms.
Servers, or “guilds” as they’re known in developer documentation - a callback to Discord’s gaming roots - can be created for free and managed with public visibility settings. Subscribers gain access to perks like an animated avatar, custom emojis across all servers, and an increased file upload size limit.
Global User Distribution
Brazil holds second place with 115.9 million users or 12.8% of Discord’s monthly global traffic. Russia is next, with 39.9 million users (4.4% of monthly traffic), followed by India at 38.4 million users (4.24%).

Localized Pricing and Payment Options
Discord periodically adjusts prices to ensure alignment with local markets. We offer localized pricing for certain subscriptions and Discord purchases in some countries on the desktop, mobile, and web apps. If you are using an eligible payment method, you will automatically switch to the new price + currency. Each currency displays with its specific currency code (for example, CAD, AUD, JPY).

When making a purchase in a country where localized pricing is available, mandatory fees and/or taxes may be imposed. All types of gifts, including Nitro and Shop gifts, are not available at localized prices.
Unavailable Payment Methods
JCB, Discover, Diners Club, UnionPay, and AMEX currently do not support localized pricing.

Pricing Deprecation and Adjustments
As of February 15, 2024, we began the deprecation of ARS pricing and it is no longer available when purchasing Nitro, Nitro Basic, Nitro Classic, and/or Server Boosting.
On February 21, 2024, we made a price adjustment to the TRY pricing for our Discord subscriptions, which is in effect for all new purchases of Nitro, Nitro Basic, and Nitro Classic in Turkey.
If you subscribed to Nitro, Nitro Classic, or Server Boosting before this date, you will keep your current pricing as long as you don't make any further subscription changes. If you’d like to cancel your subscription, you can do so by going to User Settings > Subscriptions.
Important: Unfortunately, once grandfathered pricing is lost, Discord Support cannot restore it to your subscription.
