Agadir Morocco Nightlife Guide

While Agadir might not be the first destination that comes to mind for a vibrant party scene, it still offers a variety of options for those seeking a memorable night out. Despite being in Morocco, an Islamic country where alcohol isn't a prevalent part of the culture, you can still find places to enjoy a cold beer or dance the night away.

A popular activity is to take a relaxing visit to the beach and ocean area at night. You can walk on the sand of the beach or along the corniche. A lot of locals stroll around the long walkway that is the promenade of Agadir beach as there many are cafes and restaurants, some of which stay open late. This spot is especially popular during the summer when it can get very hot and the locals like to come to enjoy the cooler sea breezes, before and after dinner. Every evening you can go to a restaurant or bar with a terrace for dinner or a drink.

Here's a guide to some of the notable nightlife spots in Agadir:

Live Music and Entertainment

Many places host live music, especially around the Boulevard du 20 Aout. Later in the evening there is live music in the atrium.

  • Buddha Bar: Located in the Sofitel, this sleek and upscale venue features live musical performances, including fire-twirling, along with cocktails and a pan-Asian menu.
  • Spanish-style bar: This cosy, jazz-inspired spot suitable for a quieter night has a restaurant attached. The food is great and the prices are pretty reasonable. There’s always live music playing, and they have salsa nights every Sunday. The bands attract a good crowd, and to top it off, they’ve got a pool table.

Bars and Lounges

For those seeking a more relaxed atmosphere, Agadir offers several bars and lounges:

  • Rooftop Terrace Bar: Oof. Nothing too special, but it wins a lot of people over with the rooftop terrace. Relaxed atmosphere and a good spot for a sunset bevvy.
  • So Lounge: Attached to the Sofitel, So Lounge strives for swankier appeal. They have live music or DJ rotations. Before 10pm, it’s an ambient little Arabesque bar, favoured for its shisha.

Nightclubs

If you're looking to dance the night away, Agadir has a few nightclubs to choose from:

  • The most famous club in Agadir: Flashy, full of energy, buzzy atmosphere.
  • Naya Club: Naya is fun, flashy, and slightly less formal than the hotel clubs. Themed nights, live dancers and a decent-sized dance floor make it a solid pick for backpackers and locals alike.

Beachfront Dining and Drinks

  • Pirate Club: Right on the beach, Pirate Club serves up budget-friendly food, cold beer, and a front-row seat to the sunset. As the name suggests, good food and better vibes.
  • Upscale seafood restaurant in the marina: Serves fresh seafood with a view.

Budget-Friendly Options

  • Local Joint: This hole-in-the-wall local joint is popular with beer drinkers thanks to its low prices and lack of pretence.

If you are after a bit of nightlife on your Moroccan adventure, I’d opt for Essaouira. It’s a small coastal city, but it’s got a great artsy/cultural scene.
