In response to racial division and violence, a group of Black advocates, educators, elders, faith-based leaders, and youth convened with Pomona Mayor Tim Sandoval in June 2020 to seek solutions. This meeting led to the formation of the African American Advisory Alliance (Pomona4As) as a 501(c)(3) organization, dedicated to promoting reconciliation and equity within the community.

The organization then submitted a proposal to the Mayor and Council to utilize a city-owned property. This proposal was unanimously approved, marking a significant step forward for the Alliance.
