The Webster University - Ghana Campus offers access to an American-style higher education. The new location in Cantonments Accra, provides access to higher education for residents of Africa and surrounding countries and for students from around the world.

Webster University was founded in 1915 with its home campus based in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. It is a nonprofit university with campus locations around the world in North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Webster is one of the most diverse and global universities in the world.

Since opening its doors in March 2014, Webster's Ghana campus has been thriving in academic excellence, providing new ways to teach and foster global citizenship. Since the doors of Webster University Ghana were opened in 2014, students from across the world have enrolled at Webster Ghana each year and have benefitted from the cultural diversity and enriching academic environment. Currently, Webster University Ghana has enrolled both undergraduate and graduate students from over 25 different countries, spanning four continents.

Webster Ghana is located in East Legon, a town within the Greater Accra region, and is relatively close to other universities. All housing for study abroad students is in on-campus housing in double occupancy apartments. In the three-floor residential buildings, all floors share a common living area, a kitchen and dining area, and the first floor has a student lounge. Webster Ghana is committed to bringing students together as one community. They offer a wide variety of services, host cultural, and social events for students throughout the academic year.

Webster Ghana is accredited by the National Accreditation Board (NAB) of Ghana and the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) in the United States (US). The home campus in St Louis, Missouri, has an impressive track record of over 105 years of providing high-quality American education.

Academic Programs and Opportunities

The university’s Ghana campus offers a growing number of undergraduate majors, an Africana studies minor, and on the graduate side, a Master’s of Business Administration as well as an MA in International Relations. Webster University Ghana offers a practical, hands-on approach to learning with small classrooms, not exceeding 25 students per space. Students are exposed to new ways of thinking and encouraged to strengthen their critical-thinking skills through ongoing debates both inside and outside of the classroom setting.

Small class sizes allow for intellectual discussion and opportunities to build and develop genuine long-lasting relationships with fellow students.

Study Abroad Opportunities

Webster University provides the opportunity for students to also study abroad during their course of study. Students may elect to study abroad for a nine-week term, semester, or an entire academic year at any of Webster University’s international campuses. The current international campuses outside Ghana include Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, US, Thailand, China, Greece, the UK, and Uzbekistan.

Unlike most universities with only an August year start, Webster has 5 enrollment periods per year, allowing flexible start dates. Prospective students can apply at any time during the year and begin in August, October, January, March, and May.

Transition to Teach-Out Mode

Established in 2013, the Ghana campus, situated in East Legon, Greater Accra, has been a beacon of American-style education, hosting a diverse community of international and local students. The decision to transition to Teach-Out mode is the result of a comprehensive site review process, a routine analysis ensuring the consistency and quality of learning experiences across all Webster campuses.

As part of the Teach-Out plan, Webster University Ghana is committed to providing various options for students to continue their studies toward degree completion, both locally and within its global network of campuses. Webster University remains devoted to the principles of global citizenship and individual excellence.

The Ministry of Education (MOE), Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), and The Higher Learning Commission (HLC), the US-based accreditor, have been informed of the Teach-Out plan, ensuring a coordinated approach to support students, staff, and faculty during this transition.
