Welcome to Sheri African Restaurant, a vibrant eatery nestled in the heart of Opa-locka, Florida. This hidden gem is renowned for its authentic Nigerian cuisine, offering a warm atmosphere that feels like home. With a dedication to bringing the rich flavors of Africa to the local community, Sheri African Restaurant invites diners to explore a menu steeped in tradition and packed with flavor.

A Culinary Journey to Nigeria

Sheri African Restaurant offers an authentic taste of African cuisine, particularly Nigerian dishes. For about 20 years, Sheri has been one of the few restaurants serving African food in Miami. Specifically, Nigerian food waiting patiently behind plexiglass to be scooped up. Southern Nigerian cuisine is a combination of traditional foods (gluten, lactose and dessert free diet) and colonial foods (sweet and savory pastries) influences. At Sheri Restaurant we specialize in authentic traditional cuisine. Our food is handcrafted from scratch with fresh and natural ingredients; we do not use artificial ingredients, butter and sugar. All our dishes are flavorful and spiced according to our customers preferences from mild to super spicy.

Signature Dishes and Customer Favorites

Upon entering, guests are greeted by an inviting ambiance, complemented by the friendly nature of the staff. Mrs. Sherri herself, often noted for her remarkable culinary skills, ensures that every meal is crafted with love and attention. From the first hearty spoonful of Egusi soup, with its rich, nutty flavors and tender goat meat, to the satisfying texture of pounded yam fufu, each dish transports you to the heart of Nigeria.

Daily specials rotate but you can pretty much always expect jollof rice, egusi soup, pepper soups, and assorted meats like tender chicken and goat-as well as sides of fufu so good you should get two orders. Take, for instance, Nina West, who recommends the goat with rice and plantain, admiring both the flavor and quality of service. Meanwhile, Taron F describes the Egusi soup as a "real treat" that keeps him coming back for more.
