In recent times, the Nigerian entertainment sector has seen a rise in the number of leaked nude photos or sex videos involving celebrities. For humans, having sex is a private affair. When you are intimately connected to someone, it tends to happen (unless you are desperate or paid for it). In recent times, people have developed diverse sexual fetishes.
A school of thought, however, theorizes that these leaks are sometimes a strategy used by showbiz personalities to promote a forthcoming project or to gain further fame - or notoriety. Some criminal elements leak sex videos with the aim of humiliating their victims if their demands are not met.
Notable Cases of Leaked Sextapes
Several Nigerian celebrities have been victims of leaked sextapes, sparking public debate and controversy. Here are a few examples:
Anita Hogan
It all began when she sent her laptop computer for repairs. Anita Hogan later relocated abroad to the Netherlands, with her Dutch husband Mak, who is now late.
Tayo Faniran
He asserted that the guy in the photographs could not possibly be him and that whomever was behind the fabrication must have used Photoshop, a photo-editing programme, to superimpose his head on another naked man’s body.

Yetunde Barnabas
In October 2016, she became an internet sensation when a video of her performing sexual acts with another lady leaked on the internet. The video was uploaded from Snapchat.
Tiwa Savage
Tiwa Savage joined the league of celebrities whose sex video went public on October 2021.
Goya Menor
In October 2022, he ignited the internet with his leaked sexual intimacy video with a woman. The actress later disclosed that the leaked video was a private video done a while back.
Regina Daniels and False Allegations
Regina Nneamaka Daniels was born in Lagos State, the southwest province of Nigeria, on October 10, 2000, the daughter of an actress, movie producer, model, and businesswoman, Rita Daniels, who had once headed the Delta State chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, and her father, Jude Ojegwu. Who also parted ways years ago. She grew up in Asaba, Delta State. She has five siblings-three brothers and two sisters. She is the second youngest child in her family. Daniels started movie making at the age of seven. She got support from her mother and her siblings. Her first movie was Marriage of Sorrow which earned her 10,000 Nigerian Naira. Daniels featured in a Nollywood movie titled "Miracle Child" in 2010.
A plot to implicate Daniels in a scam involving alleged intimate photos of an aspiring actress started on 20 November 2017. A person claimed that she had sent photos to Daniels and was then asked to meet with a movie producer who would train her on being a better actress. After the meeting Daniels was said to have been angry with the victim inciting that the aspiring actress should have offered herself to the producer. Two days later Daniels denied all allegations, and said a fan was using her name to dupe the actress.

By February 2025, it was rumored that Regina had separated from her husband, Ned Nwoko, after she deactivated her Instagram account and later returned, with noticeable changes to her official Instagram bio: she removed Ned's name and deleted all pictures of him.
