Moroccanoil Clarifying Shampoo: A Detailed Review

From laps in the pool to dips in the ocean, summer has been a great one for our minds. Our hair however, is another story! Due to the large amounts of chlorine, salt and anti-frizz sprays we’ve been using, our tresses have gotten duller with all the build-up. To remedy this situation, we went and got ourselves a few bottles of Moroccanoil’s Clarifying Shampoo. Here is our review.

First Impressions

The shampoo comes packaged in a cheerful, turquoise bottle with a white cap. The crisp print and minimalistic format make it easy to read the ingredients and directions, which are printed on the back.

Application and Texture

As per the directions, we massaged our scalps with the shampoo, adding more water as we went along. The thin consistency ensured that the formula was evenly distributed through our locks. Although it is sulphate-free, the product still formed a fair amount of lather.

You can definitely feel your hair squeaky clean after using it as it gets rid of all the product build up!

Scent

On the downside, the shampoo has quite a strong, chemical scent, which can bother a few people.

The Results

We’ve been using this shampoo once every fortnight and have been impressed with the results. After just one use, our hair felt lighter and infinitely cleaner. Over the weeks, we’ve noticed that our scalps are less irritated and our hair feels rejuvenated.

Great detox shampoo! Great clarifying shampoo! I love this shampoo and have been purchasing it for years. It lathers well, cleans great, and smells wonderful. Cleans very well and has a nice scent.

Make sure to moisturize well afterwards! And only use it once in 2-3 weeks.

Potential Drawbacks

However, the formula stripped away some of the moisture from our mane, so we advise against using it if your hair is on the drier side. Also, do not use this shampoo to enhance shine or volume - as promised, all it does it remove all the build-up and dirt.

This shampoo makes my hair feel extremely dry.

Whilst this shampoo is definitely not made for daily usage, it works marvellously well to reset your hair.

Recommendations

If your hair tangles easy, I do recommend using one of the brand's conditioners after as it gets hair squeaky clean. I like to use the Moroccanoil Hydrating Mask after for shiny results!

I also used the Moroccan oil repair mask once a week.

This shampoo is great if you want to avoid sulfates.

Usage Frequency

Following the directions, you have used this product every two weeks… and only twice so far.
