Prepare yourself for a fantastic Egyptian Adventure, as you embark on your quest to find the ancient treasure. Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime as you battle your way past the giant scorpions and avoid the mysterious mummies and creepy crawlies along the way!
Delve into the golden sands of a bygone civilization and let your bricks bring to life the mysteries of Ancient Egypt. From towering pyramids casting long shadows across the desert to intricate temples echoing with the whispers of pharaohs, this era offers endless inspiration for LEGO enthusiasts.
While LEGO has dabbled in Egyptian themes before with the Adventurers Egypt subtheme (1998-2000) and Pharaoh’s Quest (2011), those sets focused on treasure hunting adventures rather than celebrating the mythology itself.
Navigate your way through the perilous pyramid to discover the secret of the sphinx and find the ultimate treasure. Take flight in the adventurers plane or race across the desert in the fully equipped desert truck.
The set includes:

- A pyramid full of mystery, wonder and treasure which comes apart in 2 sections for easy access.
- A sphinx which opens at the rear to reveal a sacred treasure.
- An Egyptian pillar (obelisk) covered in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs.
- A desert truck filled with equipment and supplies.
- An aeroplane for our adventurers to use to get a better view from the sky or to make their escape.
- 2 giant scorpions (the defenders of the sacred treasure) with fully moveable legs, claws and tail.
- 5 minifigures and plenty of hidden creepy crawlies to create your adventure!
I built this set because I find the history of Egyptian culture fascinating and have always enjoyed watching adventure movies/programmes filled with mystery, imagination and treasure hunts.
I think this would make a great LEGO set as it includes lots of fun little details within the pyramid and also captures a true Egyptian adventure with the inclusion of the vehicles to accompany the main build, which would add to the overall building experience.
Egyptian mythology meets Danish plastic in what might be the most compelling LEGO Ideas submission I’ve encountered this year. A builder going by the handle ‘JanwillemLoonen’ has crafted a quartet of gods that would make any Egyptologist smile. Created in the signature relief-sculpture style often associated with Egyptian hieroglyphs, these LEGO ‘idols’ are equal parts cultural, quirky, and cool. The attention to iconographic detail here borders on obsessive, and I mean that as the highest compliment possible.
Ancient Egypt MOCs: Building a Bygone Era
Imagine the warm glow of sunset reflecting off a micro-scale obelisk, or the meticulous layering of tan slopes to recreate the Great Pyramid’s stepped silhouette. Building an Ancient Egypt MOC challenges you to think about texture-how to suggest weathered stone, the crisp edges of a relief carving, or the meandering curves of the Nile.
You’ll experiment with monochromatic walls punctuated by brightly colored decorative tiles, and discover clever uses for parts you already own: black cheese-slopes for hieroglyphic insets, round tiles for palm-tree fronds, and a judicious sprinkle of gold elements to evoke precious artifacts.

Above all, Ancient Egypt MOCs invite a narrative approach-compose scenes of bustling markets, sacred rituals, or daring archaeological expeditions.
What strikes me immediately about this build is how the creator has solved the fundamental challenge of translating ancient Egyptian art into LEGO form. Egyptian art is famously flat, profile-based, and symbolic rather than realistic. These figures embrace that aesthetic completely, working as both wall-mounted reliefs and freestanding displays.
Color choices throughout are spot-on for anyone familiar with Egyptian art. The tan bodies, blue and gold regalia, and strategic pops of color mirror the pigments you’d find in actual tomb paintings. Each god stands on a simple brown base that provides stability without distracting from the figures themselves. The whole collection strikes that perfect balance between display piece and playful LEGO character that makes the best Ideas sets so appealing.
The project currently sits at 2,677 supporters on LEGO Ideas, still far from the 10,000 needed for official consideration, but gaining momentum among both LEGO enthusiasts and history buffs. Given LEGO’s recent success with display-oriented sets like the Botanical Collection and various helmet series, an Egyptian mythology set would fit perfectly into their adult-focused product line.
The educational value alone makes this a compelling candidate for official production, offering builders a chance to engage with ancient history while mastering advanced building techniques. The fact that the entire set uses existing LEGO elements without requiring new molds or printed pieces makes it even more viable from a production standpoint.

LEGO Adventurers: Johnny Thunder and the Quest for Ancient Treasures
Lego Adventurers (stylized as LEGO Adventurers) is a discontinued Lego theme based on an early 20th century 'explorer' concept. It centred around the main character named Johnny Thunder and a team of explorers who go on adventures. Unlike other Lego themes, which take place in a fictional "Lego Universe", most of the Adventurers sets took places in real-world locations, such as Egypt, the Amazon rainforest, the Himalayas, India, and China. The only fictional sub-theme took place on an island where prehistoric creatures still lived.
The theme was first introduced in 1998. The product line centered around early 20th century exploration and involved the characters exploring new areas and going on adventures. It focused on a character named Johnny Thunder. It began in 1998 with a desert theme, which involved the character searching for the pharaoh's ruby in Egypt. The Adventurers toy sets were the first to include sand-coloured parts.
Johnny Thunder was accompanied by several other characters, including Miss Pippin Reed, Dr. Kilroy, and a daredevil pilot named Harry Cane. These characters were pursued by the evil villains Slyboots and Baron Von Barron. In 1999, the theme moved from the Egyptian desert to the Amazonian jungle. The storyline involved a race to obtain a sun disc from a mystical figure named Achu. The antagonists were changed to Senor Palomar and Rudo Villano.
In 2000, Johnny Thunder reappeared in a product line named Dino Island. The pilot character Harry Cane was replaced by a dinosaur expert named Mike. The evil character Baron Von Barron, now renamed "Sam Sinister", reappeared alongside his new cohorts Mr. Cunningham and Alexia Sinister. The storyline centered around the villains attempting to capture dinosaurs from an island.
In 2003, Johnny Thunder returned in a product line named Orient Expedition, which centered on a journey across Asia.
Key Characters in the LEGO Adventurers Series
- Johnny Thunder: The leading man in the Lego Adventurers line. He is Australian and is a daring, compassionate archaeologist. He sports a khaki shirt with a red bandanna, black legs, and a bush hat.
- Dr. Kilroy: One of Johnny Thunder's companions on his epic adventures. He is a professor and is Johnny's uncle, but like a father figure to him. He sports a pith helmet, a white shirt with a red bow-tie, and green legs. He was formerly known as "Dr.
- Pippin Reed: The female companion of Johnny Thunder who is a budding journalist, recording all of the adventures. She sports a green jacket, red legs, and either a pith helmet or pilot helmet.
- Harry Cane: A companion of Johnny Thunder who is an experienced pilot. He wears a pilot helmet with a brown leather jacket and black legs.
- Mike: A young friend of Johnny Thunder who wants to adopt a baby T.
- Mr. Hates: The main villain in the Adventurers line, he seeks to take things he considers valuable, including trapping dinosaurs. He has a scarred face and sports a monocle, khaki shirt with holster, grey legs, epaulettes, and either a pith helmet, top hat, or pilot helmet. His left hand is a hook. He was formerly known as "Evil Eye" in the UK and "Baron von Barron" in North America.
- Slyboots: The cohort of Mr. Hates; various publications differed on whether he was the boss or the henchman. One of the main villains, he dresses entirely in black and is a representation of the archetypal "villain". He wears glasses.
The first sub-theme starts off with Johnny and company in the deserts of Egypt. The main goal for Johnny is to explore the ancient Egypt structures, and find the "Re-Gou ruby" before any of his enemies obtain it first.
Exploring the LEGO Adventurers Egypt Sets
From 1998 to 2003, Adventurers was a theme which has become nostalgic to many Lego fans. It follows Johnny Thunder on many adventures around the world for lost artifacts. With enough support we can bring this theme back!
This model is utilizes the design of the real life Temple of Edfu (Horus) in combination with features from the original Adventurers set 'Pharaoh's Forbidden Ruins (5988)' to pay tribute to the old set theme. This model includes a large temple with many play features while also acting as a great display piece. The backside of the temple can be opened for easy access to the interior or kept closed for storage or transportation.
Specifics
- This model consists of 3,000 pieces
- Includes 9 figures (this includes a skeleton and Anubis statue)
- Measures approximately 17" x 17" (when closed) and 9.5" tall
- Includes a dangerous golden staff that shoots lasers
There are 7 different rooms in the temple!
- Scroll Room - Dr. Kilroy is very fascinated by this room. In it are many ancient scrolls, that he suspects were once in the Library of Alexandria! There is also an Anubis statue and pottery.
- Treasure Room - A large hoard of gold lies hidden here. So much that it is just resting in a pile. Surely a room that Sam Sinister would love to find!
- Pharaoh's Chamber - This is the Tomb of the once powerful Pharaoh. He shouldn't be an issue as he's been dead for over 2,000 years. At least that's what I thought.
- Trap Floor Room - This room has a black chest with gold coins (referencing the black chest from set 5988). But be cautious as there is a trap door in the floor!
- Skeleton Chamber - If you're unlucky enough to fall through the trap door, you will end up in this room where the floor is covered in spikes and snakes! It also looks like a Roman solider also fell for this trick as his skeleton is all that remains!
- Crocodile Room - Also a reference to set 5988, this a Crocodile statue/mummy in this room.
- Staff Room - This is where the golden staff and Red Ruby are hidden. Both being held by two different statues. Once they are put together, they can make whomever yields them very powerful!
Also included is a plane and truck to help get around the desert!

These sets capture the spirit of adventure and exploration, with detailed builds and iconic minifigures that bring the world of ancient Egypt to life.
Rumor has it that Baron Von Barron and his wicked henchman Sam Sinister have returned to Egypt in hopes of stealing more treasure! According to legend, somewhere along the Nile is a Temple that holds a golden staff and red ruby. And when combined, unlock mysterious powers!
Of course Baron Von Barron cannot be allowed to have such power! And thus it is up to Johnny Thunder with the help of Dr. Kilroy, Pippin Reed, and Harry Cane to get to the temple first before before these villians have a chance to get the staff, ruby, and other treasure!
In 2014, Johnny Thunder made a cameo as a Master Builder in The LEGO Movie. In 2018, the Ninjago set 70657 Ninjago City Docks includes two stickers referencing Adventurers. Johnny Thunder and 5935 Island Hopper can be seen on a billboard advertising Thunder Adventure Tours. In 2020, an update to LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed added J.
