Nestled on the slopes of Table Mountain in the peaceful suburb of Oranjezicht, Four Rosmead stands as a testament to the seamless blend of historical significance and contemporary design. This boutique hotel, originally constructed as a private house in 1903, has been meticulously refurbished to offer guests a unique and luxurious experience.

A Classified Monument with Modern Elegance

Built in 1903, Four Rosmead has been recognized for its historical value and has been sensitively and stylishly re-modelled. The result is a Cape contemporary classic building with a rich history. This classified monument features chic, eclectic, and contemporary interiors with a subtle yet distinctive African spirit, enhanced by original South African artwork. The hotel's art gallery displays carefully selected artwork crafted by local artists, with most pieces available for purchase.

Location and Accessibility

Four Rosmead is ideally situated to explore the city of Cape Town and its immediate surroundings. The guesthouse is accessed via 25 minutes’ road transfer from Cape Town’s international airport. Uniquely situated on the slopes of Table Mountain in tranquil and leafy Oranjezicht, Four Rosmead is within walking distance of Green Market Square, and only 10 minutes by car from the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, Kirstenbosch Gardens and Clifton and Camps Bay beaches. Its central location provides easy access to various attractions:

Accommodation: Luxury and Comfort

With an intimate collection of rooms, you are immersed into a tranquil atmosphere with excellent service on-hand. The interiors of the ten en-suite rooms are chic, eclectic and contemporary, with a subtle yet distinctive African spirit, enhanced by original South African artwork which has been carefully selected and crafted by local South African artists. Today it offers deluxe rooms and superb service. There are ten guest rooms, in two categories - Luxury and Deluxe.

Luxury Rooms

The former are found on the ground floor, and three of four offer an outside area that’s accessed directly from the guesthouse’s secure parking spaces. Cape contemporary classic in style, all Luxury Rooms feature an extra-length double bed or twin beds, bedside tables and lighting, a writing desk cum vanity table and chair, an easy chair, and storage furniture. The en-suite facilities comprise flush toilet, washbasin, and step-up shower. Additional amenities include:

Deluxe Rooms

Four of the six Deluxe Rooms are positioned on the upper floor of the guesthouse, benefiting from all the features of the Luxury option in addition to a little extra space - and, in two of these rooms, an en-suite washroom with bathtub as well as shower. The final two Deluxe Rooms are situated within the garden.

Communal Areas and Services

Four Rosmead’s communal areas include the guesthouse’s pleasant lounge, featuring comfortable seating, coffee and occasional tables, ottomans, and an interesting array of African artwork. It’s large enough to be divided into two spaces, one with a cozy fireplace. In the breakfast room, there are immaculate wooden tables-and-chairs and further artwork. Guests can also eat, drink, and relax on the guesthouse’s veranda, all the while enjoying lovely garden views. The garden contains an inviting heated swimming pool, in addition to a few sunloungers under parasols.

Among the services offered by Four Rosmead’s staff members are airport transfers, car hire, reservations, and arranging a variety of tours. Accommodation is booked on a B&B basis, including parking and Wi-Fi.

Breakfast and Dining

Continental or full English options are served here every morning, to set you up for the day! In the morning, the hotel offers continental or full English breakfasts, including vegetarian friendly daily specials. Breakfast at Four Rosmead is served daily between 7.30am and 11.00am. During our last visit we were offered a buffet of fresh sliced fruit, fruit salad served in individual glass bowls, a selection of cereals, yoghurt and home-made breads with fresh fruit juice, tea and coffee. A cooked breakfast is also available.

Here are just a few examples of attractions located within walking distance or only 5-10 minutes’ drive from the guesthouse.

  • Robben Island: situated approximately 7 kilometers off the coast, this is where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 of his 27 years behind bars.
  • Clifton Beaches: comprising four sheltered coves, Clifton is ideal for secluded swimming.
