Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti is a Polytechnic in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. The school is located along Ijan Ekiti road, in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. The current Rector is Engr. Dr Temitope John Alake.
The institution opened in January 1977 in Jos, Plateau State, as a college of technology with 350 National Diploma students. The following year it was relocated by the government to Akure, Ondo State, and in 1979 became a polytechnic.
The Federal Polytechnic, Ado - Ekiti is one of the second generation Polytechnics and it was first founded as a College of Technology in Jos, Plateau State in January 1977 and later that year moved to Akure, Ondo State by the then Federal Military Government. The Federal College of Technology, Akure was later converted into a full fledged Polytechnic by decree No. 33 of July 1979. By 1982, the Federal Government founded the Federal University of Technology at its site in Akure and thus relocated the Polytechnic to Ado - Ekiti.
Over the years, the Institution has grown from seven Academic Departments with a pioneer student enrolment of 350 (Full-Time National Diploma) and 95 Academic Staff in 1978.

Higher National Diploma (HND) Programs
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti programmes (full time and part time) in the 2020/2021 Academic Session leading to the award of Higher National Diploma (HND) in the underlisted programmes.
General Admission Requirements for HND:
- National Diploma (ND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in the course/programme of choice and five (5) relevant credits including English Language and Mathematics at the SSCE/NECO or GCE O’Level.
- a minimum of one year post-ND cognate work experience in Internship.
Additional Requirements:
- at least a lower credit level pass in ND in the relevant programme and one year post-ND industrial training in a relevant Industry.
- Candidate offering Applied Chemistry at HND must possess credit in Chemistry at SSCE/ NECO/NABTEB
- Candidate offering Physics/Electronics at HND must possess credit in Physics at SSCE/ NECO/NABTEB.
- Candidate offering Biochemistry at HND must possess credit in Chemistry and Biology at SSCE/NECO/NABTEB.
