Tour Guide Experiences

Many travelers mention guide Momo, who helps with market negotiations and introduces them to local residents. Our guide Momo gets constant praise from travelers for bringing historical stories to life, often arranging impromptu visits with local families.

Next morning was our trip briefing with our guide, Egyptologist Momo. He promised a great experience in Egypt and he was certainly correct. He provided informative and clear explanations to all of the landmarks that we visited which gave a real insight into the history and culture of Egypt. We have travelled on several tours of this kind but Momo was our best guide. He often went out of his way to assist us in buying souvenirs at the best prices and providing snacks and lunches which weren't part of our package. Momo's personality and enthusiasm really helped our group of 32 people to really click and form some lasting friendships. Leigh & Karyn McC

It was a terrific tour with a superb guide, Randa, in Egypt. Randa was exceptional. The pace, however, was too compressed (not her fault) and I think the tour should be a few days longer. Things were packed in too tightly in Egypt and we all wished that we had had more time to spend at several of the sight, particularly Abu Simbel and The Valley of the Kings.

The local tour guides in Jordan and Egypt, especially Tamer in Cairo, were exceptional. George, our Egypt guide, brought so much energy and knowledge to the Pyramids and Cairo - it was like discovering it all over again. And oh, Ibrahim, our guide on the Nile cruise, was not just great but hilarious too! He had this knack for putting a smile on our faces every day. These guys didn't just show us around; they turned the whole tour into a personal, unforgettable journey.

Traveler Reviews and Testimonials

Let me once again reiterate that our tour guides in Jordan and Cairo were OUTSTANDING, patient, knowledgeable, punctual and very professional.

Your Tour Managers are superb especially Henry. Both tour guides were Amazing! Highly knowledgeable and always willing to answer any questions. Wide variety of different experiences. Felt safe at all time's. It was a wonderful trip from beginning to end. Our tour guide was exceptional. She knew the areas toured and approached her tours with passion.

Sahar, our tour manager was exceptional! Her knowledge and experience at managing the group was incredible. From the moment we arrived in Cairo, to the time we departed from Israel, Collette provided representatives and guides to make our tour seamless and anxiety free. The Sheraton in Cairo, the tours, buses, drivers and food was excellent.

Our tour guide, Ahmed, was not only knowledgeable, but was a truly gifted professional. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time! I just wish we would have been able to spend more time at the Egyptian Museum .

The trip is divided in two very different weeks. During my stay in Egypt I was always accompanied by a guide (Tamer and Mansour) and a driver, who ensured I had a great time visiting the different sites while learning a lot about Egyptian history. I was also supported during the check in at the different airports. The hotels were fantastic. During the second week in Jordan I was accompanied by a driver, Moayad. Moayad was friendly, accommodating and caring and he ensured we reached all the sites safely and on time.

Safety and Practical Information

Look, safety's a top priority in both countries and you'll notice plenty of security around the main tourist spots. Jordan's really stable and known for how welcoming everyone is. Egypt's had some challenges sure but most travelers especially those in organized groups feel totally secure.

These are Muslim countries so dressing modestly and being respectful around religious sites really matters. Learn a few Arabic greetings it makes such a difference with locals. Get ready for some friendly haggling in the markets it's part of the experience. Tipping or "baksheesh" is pretty normal for services but heads up you might get some persistent requests in Egypt.

Egyptian Pyramids

Ideal Travel Seasons

Spring (March-May) and fall (September-November) are really your sweet spots with perfect weather for exploring all those ancient sites. Winter's nice too just pack a jacket for evening time. Summer gets pretty intense especially out in the desert so plan those outdoor activities carefully.

Choosing the Right Tour Type

It really depends on what you're after. Group tours are great for meeting people and usually cost less while private tours let you call the shots and get really personal with the experience. Smaller groups definitely help you dive deeper into the culture just ask our TourRadar guests. Think about your budget how you like to travel and how much freedom you want.

Specialized Tours

For those drawn to religious heritage, an Egypt-Jordan tour explores the 12th-century Ajlun Fortress, Roman ruins at Jerash, the hidden corners of Petra and also the Dead Sea.

Those focused purely on Egyptian archaeology might prefer the tour that includes Hurghada's beaches, offering a nice mix of ancient monuments and coastal downtime.

Solo Travel

Our Egypt and Jordan tours really suit solo travelers, with options that make independent exploration easy and social. The Jordan and Egypt Budget Tour delivers great experiences without the high price tag - you'll explore Petra's secret spots, sleep under stars in Wadi Rum and float in the Dead Sea with other independent travelers.

Many choose the Nile cruise option which naturally brings people together while giving everyone their own space to recharge. Our solo guests often mention how the guides help them navigate local shopping, arrange group meals and create easy ways for everyone to connect. The desert portions especially tend to bring groups together through shared experiences and traditional dinners.

Romantic Getaways

For couples looking to mix romance with discovery, our fuller tours blend luxury touches with real local experiences. The Pyramids and Petra tour gets this balance just right - you'll have dinner by candlelight at Petra, take private sunset drives in the desert and cruise the Nile in style.

Another great choice starts with Jordan's main sites before moving on to Egypt's ancient treasures, staying at hotels picked for their views and special touches. Couples particularly enjoy the Dead Sea spa treatments and optional balloon flights above Luxor. The tour schedule gives you enough together time between the guided visits to explore at your own pace.

Active Travelers

Active travelers in their 20s and 30s tend to pick our packed itineraries that keep moving. The Contrasts of Jordan and Essences of Egypt tour delivers with hikes through Wadi Rum, temple visits and authentic city experiences like exploring Khan el-Khalili bazaar.

Another favorite mixes Red Sea snorkeling, sleeping under desert stars and sailing the Nile on traditional felucca boats. Our younger travelers tell us they love how these tours combine cultural deep-dives with outdoor activities, and they often become friends with their group during desert camps and shared evening meals.

Senior Travelers

Tours that take their time while covering all the important sites work best for our senior travelers. The 19-day Pyramids, Petra and Promised Land tour lets you really settle into places like the Valley of the Kings and Jerusalem's historic quarters without rushing.

Another excellent option includes a luxury Nile cruise where you unpack once and watch Egypt's riverside scenes drift past from your private balcony. Our experienced travelers appreciate how guides adjust the walking speed and arrange comfortable transport between locations. Many seniors also like having free afternoons to explore independently or relax at our carefully selected hotels.

Family Tours

Families traveling through Egypt and Jordan really connect with tours that mix learning and active fun. The Classical Jerusalem and Jordan tour works beautifully - kids get excited about racing through Wadi Rum in 4x4s and figuring out how the Nabateans managed water in Petra.

Another solid option combines Cairo, Aswan, Luxor and includes a relaxing Nile cruise between site visits. Our family travelers tell us their children love riding camels, cooling off with swimming breaks and trying their hand at writing hieroglyphics.

Summer Tours

Our popular summer tours through Egypt and Jordan blend active morning exploration with restful afternoons, creating an ideal rhythm in the heat. The comprehensive journey spans 19 days, starting at the pyramids in the cooler morning hours before moving to comfortable Nile cruises where you can refresh between temple visits.

In Wadi Rum, we time the 4x4 excursions and camel rides around sunrise and sunset, with nights spent in climate-controlled desert camps. Our expert guide Momo knows exactly how to pace each day, scheduling museum visits during peak afternoon heat and leading evening walks through bustling local markets when temperatures fall.

Autumn Tours

The fall weather in October and November makes our tours really special, especially the Nile cruise option on the M/S Concerto. You'll get a private balcony to watch local farmers working along the riverbanks between temple visits.

A lot of our customers pick the expanded route that adds Istanbul and Cappadocia to Egypt and Jordan - there's nothing quite like floating over Cappadocia's rock formations at sunrise before heading south to see the pyramids. The desert camping in Wadi Rum works perfectly in autumn; the temperatures let you really enjoy the camel rides, stargazing and also the 4x4 rides through the dunes.

Winter Tours

For winter travelers, our Egypt and Jordan combinations really shine from December through February. Our most comprehensive tour covers 19 days across both countries and goes all the way to Israel. Winter visitors tell us they appreciate the cooler temperatures for exploring Luxor's Valley of the Kings and wandering through Petra's narrow canyons.

Several of our customers specifically mention guide Momo, who helps them get to sites early before the crowds and heat build up. Another excellent winter option focuses purely on Jordan and Cairo - you'll spend more time at each location and get to float in the Dead Sea when the water temperature is perfect.

Travel Insurance

First, one of the tours I'm looking into is Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT). When I priced one tour (with a Jordan pre-trip extension), it gave an optional price for travel insurance (through Allianz), which includes the ability to cancel up to the day of departure, plus baggage coverage, medical benefits, assistance and emergency evacuation, and more. I think the price is a little over $1000. Has anyone purchased something like this as opposed to a regular travel insurance policy?

Unless otherwise mentioned, TourRadar does not provide travel insurance. We do however recommend purchasing it through our tried and trusted partner, World Travel Nomads.

Visa Requirements

Unfortunately we cannot offer you a visa application service. Whether you need a visa or not depends on your nationality and where you wish to travel. Assuming your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you're planning to visit, you will need to apply for a visa in advance of your scheduled departure.

Payment Information

For any tour departing before 13th August 2025 a full payment is necessary is required to confirm your booking with Vacations to go travel. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 75 days prior to the departure date of your tour.

TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency. Some departure dates and prices may vary and Vacations to go travel will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
