As the anticipation for summer grows, many find themselves dreaming of the perfect home. For those captivated by real estate, exploring the homes of notable figures can offer inspiration and insight into unique design choices. This article delves into the details of the houses associated with Chad Greenway, the former Minnesota Vikings linebacker, providing a glimpse into his real estate ventures and design preferences.
An entity related to Derek Stepan, the New York Rangers center, has acquired Chad Greenway's Minnetonka home for nearly $3.4 million. The six-bedroom, five-bath residence spans 9,826 square feet and is located near Crosby Cove, which connects to Lake Minnetonka. This transaction highlights the high-end real estate activity involving prominent sports figures in the Twin Cities area.
Hennepin County records indicate that Jennifer Greenway purchased a vacant lakefront lot in Wayzata in August 2015 for $3.15 million. Jeffrey Dewing of the Distinctive Homes Division of Coldwell Banker Burnet represented Greenway in both the sale of his Minnetonka home and the purchase of the Wayzata lot. Dewing noted that Greenway intends to remain active in the community, particularly through Chad Greenway’s Lead the Way Foundation.
Realtor.com describes the Crosby Cove house as an East Coast-influenced home featuring a family room, game area, wet bar, exercise room, and sport court. This description paints a picture of a home designed for both relaxation and entertainment, catering to an active family lifestyle.

The Design Elements of Greenway's Homes
The Greenway Parks locale offers an open invitation for homes to blend the best elements of contemporary style while integrating traditional finishes. A new addition to the market, 5543 Drane Drive, gets an immediate right swipe. Designed by distinguished Dallas architect Max Levy, the Texas AIA Award winner filled the home with his signature geometric designs that line the build with floor-to-ceiling windows and white oak beams.

After careful real estate slideshow inspection, it wasn’t just the noteworthy high ceilings and rainfall showers that caught my eye. A home that strikes a perfect balance between modern design and naturally serenity, this Max Levy design is a match made in heaven. But perhaps the real beauty of the home comes in the hidden details.
Custom Home Projects with L. Cramer Designers + Builders
Chad and Jenni Greenway have collaborated with L. Cramer on multiple custom home projects. Their previous L. Cramer home was cherished, but it lacked direct access to Lake Minnetonka. In collaboration with Murphy & Co, L. Cramer worked to ensure the new classic white traditional home nestled comfortably into its setting.
Jennifer Cramer-Miller of L. Cramer Designers + Builders oversaw everything from the city requirements and crisp millwork to installing sky-high windows and all the other details that go into making a family home. The lower-level room was very important to Chad, so the team manipulated the setting and grade of the home to accommodate the high ceilings. Dave Kopfmann of Yardscapes helped manage the home’s tiered backyard, complete with a pool and playset, which stretches to a network of outdoor paths, bridges, and channels.
The family's former home in Eden Prairie had a lot of brown tones, so both Chad and Jenni were eager to fill this home with color. “We started in the bedroom and got bolder with colors as we went on," says Jenni. The home has an overall neutral background with colorful accents in every room. Jenni wanted to stay away from anything too fancy or formal, and the couple stayed true to their farmhouse aesthetic, adding sliding barn and Dutch doors in a few spaces and using chicken coop wire in the pass-through serving area between the kitchen and dining room.
With ceilings stretching 10 to 12 feet high and floors made of five-inch-wide plank oak, the home is durable for the energetic family of four. Jenni, who moonlights as a fitness instructor when not running after two kids, daughters Maddyn and Beckett, and two dogs, loves the craft room where she can get messy with the girls. The house has a great inside-to-outside flow for plenty of fun when this family is off the clock.

Chad Greenway's Lead the Way Foundation
Greenway and his wife, Jennifer (Capista) Greenway, started Chad Greenway’s Lead the Way Foundation in 2008. In 2018, through the foundation’s Chad’s Locker program, the Greenways donated a mobile entertainment cabinet packed with iPads, laptops, movies and video games intended to lift the spirits of patients and their families at the University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
The mobile locker includes an XBOX One gaming console, a library of video games and movies, and several tablets to be used by patients at the hospital during their stays. The South Dakota native knew that the school and community that helped him get there needed one of the eight Chad's Lockers now being used in children's hospitals in the Midwest.
