Chad Frank's life and career encompass a wide range of accomplishments, from his musical talents as a drummer and composer to his leadership roles in risk and compliance within the payments industry. This article explores the various facets of his professional journey.
Musical Career
A phenomenally skilled jazz and rock drummer, Chad Frank's professional career began in 1978 with the Bill Watrous Refuge West Big Band. His drumming combines the power and conviction of rock with the sensitivity and finesse of jazz.
As a band leader and composer, Chad has five critically acclaimed CDs:
- ‘Forty Reasons’
- ‘The View’
- ‘Scream’
- ‘Legs Eleven’
- ‘Dreams Nightmares and Improvisations’
Chad also has a DVD out with his trio titled ‘Hits Live’. He has been a featured artist with the North Texas State University Percussion Ensemble, The Sydney Conservatory of Music Percussion Ensemble, Bob Cole Conservatory of Music Jazz Ensemble- Long Beach. Chad tours as a clinician in the USA, Europe, Australia, Japan and Israel.
Chad has written music for the television show ‘The Dennis Miller Show’, as well as composing music for Allan Holdsworth’s ‘Secrets’, ‘Wardenclyffe Tower’ and ‘Sixteen Men of Tain’ CDs.

Chad has recorded albums with Australian artists The Lovers, Marcia Hines, Orange Horse, Grace Knight, Margret Urlich, Ann Kilpatrick, Clint Beattie, Rachel Gaudry and Ed Kuepper. Chad also performed as a guest artist with the La Fenice Orchestra in Venice, Italy and toured with James Taylor and his Legendary Band in 2011-2012 in the US and Europe.

Leadership in Risk and Compliance
Chad Frank is EVP of Risk and Compliance and manages a staff of 13. He also has been responsible for Finances and IT. Chad also is active on the Rules and Operations and Risk Management Advisory Committees for Nacha. He also participates with the ASAE management program. He speaks at Payment Association conferences and the Nacha conferences.
Chad's versatile background from Director of Operations to Internal Auditor at SmartBank/Cornerstone Community Bank, reflects leadership in developing treasury management services, overseeing ACH processing, and managing internal controls. His commitment to excellence, dedication to professional development, and innovative controls make Chad a perfect candidate for this award.
Chad has been instrumental in developing and enhancing PaymentsFirst Automated Risk Tool (ART), a proprietary software for performing payments audits and risk reviews. Chad serves as its innovator and product manager, positioning ART as a state-of-the-art and unique tool which is also utilized by other Payment Associations.
