If it’s your first time in the city, Downtown Cairo is hands down one of the best areas to stay in Cairo. This area is also home to Khan el Khalili, Cairo’s most famous market, where you can shop for souvenirs, spices, and handmade crafts.

2. Giza

But one thing to keep in mind-Giza isn’t central Cairo. Apart from the pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, there’s not much to do in Giza. The area is still developing, and while some luxury hotels in Giza offer breathtaking views, the surroundings can feel a bit rough.

3. New Cairo

Looking for a calm, modern stay? New Cairo is an upscale district filled with gated communities, malls, and international restaurants. It’s also close to Cairo International Airport, making it a convenient choice if you have an early flight. I loved my hotel in New Cairo (I’ll share which one below!), and if I ever lived in Cairo, this would probably be my go-to neighborhood.

4. Garden City

Just south of Downtown, this elegant, quiet neighborhood is home to embassies, tree-lined streets, and some of the best luxury hotels in Cairo.
