Amour: The Journey of a Zimbabwean Acapella Group

Amour, a Zimbabwean acapella group, was founded around 2007 in Chitungwiza by Elias Mlauzi and Frank Murehwa. A member of the group joined in 2009, adding to their musical talent and dynamic.

The group's musical journey involved a meticulous process of creation and refinement. From 2013 to 2015, they dedicated their efforts to recording their first album. The process involved revisiting and perfecting each song, ensuring that the final product was of the highest quality. Finally, in 2017, they released their debut album to the public.

The Albums and Their Impact

The second album holds a special place for the group. While their first album was released into the market, they didn't have the opportunity to officially launch it. In contrast, they launched their second album with great success and even managed to produce two music videos.

The group places a strong emphasis on creating original content. Most of their songs are written by one of the members, with input and assistance from the rest of the group. This collaborative approach ensures that each song reflects the collective vision and talent of Amour.

Challenges and Growth

Like many small groups, Amour has faced its share of challenges. One common issue is the poaching of talented members by larger, more established groups. As a director, one of the members has observed the importance of having not only outstanding members but also individuals with other valuable qualities. People who are committed, willing to learn, and dedicated to building the group from the ground up are essential for long-term success.
