Jollof Rice

Suya Joint is owned by Chef Cecelia Lizotte, who draws inspiration from her grandmother's small village restaurant in Qua’an Pan, Plateau State, Nigeria. After establishing her first location in Boston, she expanded into Providence, bringing savory dishes like jollof rice, tender beef or chicken, egusi stew, beans, and sweet fried plantains to a new audience.

The restaurant is located at 320 Westminster St, Providence, RI 02903-3303, and has a charming neighborhood gem and innovative welcome.

A Menu Packed with Flavor

Suya Joint’s menu highlights the cuisine of Lizotte’s native Nigeria, with favorites including jollof rice, fufu, and beef suya, a Nigerian meat skewer. The menu features a variety of West African dishes and drinks. Stews and soups come with fufu (pounded yam), which you use to soak up specialties like efo riro, leafy greens cooked in red stew and flavored with smoked crayfish, fish, and turkey; or egusi stew, leafy greens cooked with African melon seed and flavored with smoked crayfish, fish, and turkey. You can add your choice of meat or fish to any stew for more sustenance. In addition to the mouth-watering menu selection, the new restaurant offers non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, such as a variety of African beers. Wash down your meal with a guava margarita or Zuma Rock punch cocktail.
