Osun State University (UNIOSUN), located in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria, is a multi-campus university established in 2006. It was approved by Nigeria's National Universities Commission on December 21, 2006, as the 30th State University and the 80th in the Nigerian university system.
The university’s main campus is located in Osogbo. UNIOSUN offers a wide range of courses from undergraduate to postgraduate levels, including bachelor’s degrees, postgraduate diplomas, master’s degrees, and doctor of philosophy degrees.

Admission Requirements
All prospective students must pass an English Language course before admission and earn an acceptable score in the matriculation examination. The university also carries out an aptitude test for all students before admission.
Candidates seeking admission into Osun State University (UNIOSUN) Interim Joint Matriculations Board (IJMB) Examination must possess five (5) ordinary level credit passes in relevant subjects including English Language. Candidates will further go through a screening exercise. Screening of candidates will take place at the Main campus, Osun State University, Oke Baale, Osogbo.
The Programme is designed to prepare candidates for consideration for DIRECT ENTRY ADMISSION to 200 level of regular degree programmes through the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) Examination. It will be another opportunity for candidates who cannot gain admission to regular degree programmes in Nigerian Universities for one reason or the other.
Sports and Extracurricular Activities
Across campus, there’s lots for students to get involved with, from sports to innovation. The university’s sports unit organizes competitions across departments and faculties, and other colleges and universities in a range of sports such as soccer, table tennis, and athletics. Gaining a strong reputation in Nigerian sports, the university won six medals at the 2011 NUGA games held at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. For students who are involved in developing theoretical and research skills in sport and exercise, they can choose to study sporting courses from sports management to sports journalism.
Additional Information
Osun State University had its first convocation ceremony in 2011, under the administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. The University had a reputation of not being involved in the Nationwide ASUU strike, until the 2013 ASUU strike which lasted for over five months.
