Mohamed Baba Diomande, born on 30th October 2001 in Yopougon, Abidjan, Ivory Coast, is a talented footballer with a promising career ahead. Growing up in Wassakara in the Yopougon suburb of the Ivorian capital of Abidjan, Diomande's journey to professional football began at the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana.
He came to the Danish club FC Nordsjælland through the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana.
Early Career at FC Nordsjælland
In 2020, FC Nordsjælland scouted Diomande and brought him to Denmark. He made his professional debut on 19 February 2020 in a Danish Superliga match against AC Horsens, starting at central midfield in the 6-0 home win before being replaced in the 60th minute by Clinton Antwi.
Over the next four years, he made 111 appearances for Nordsjælland, scoring 16 goals-the first of which he scored on 13th September 2020.
Flemming Pedersen, head coach of the club for Diomande’s debut in February 2020, said: “He is an all-round player. He is at his very best in the central midfield, where he usually takes up a lot of space. He is a player who covers a large area. He is a good dribbler. He is a good ball winner, pretty strong in the main game as well and physically strong.”

During his time with FC Nordsjælland, Diomande showcased his versatility and skill on the field. FC Copenhagen finished on top in the top of the table clash, 2-1. FC Nordsjælland’s youthful side started strong taking the lead in the first half, thanks to Mohamed Diomande’s excellent header.
Diomande was deployed as a left winger during the first half, where he was given the licence to drop into the half spaces almost operating as a 10 at times. While during the second half, Diomande dropped into the midfield 3 on the left side, where he was more involved in the earlier phases of the build-up.
Due to his good movement, he’s constantly demanding the ball in the half-space, where he can use his good agility to turn the opponent and look to penetrate the opposition’s lines. Diomande has a brilliant passing range accompanied by great vision.
He frequently looked to switch the ball to the opposite flank and finding the space. Diomande was brilliant in the transition of this game where he utilised all his skill sets to launch counter-attacks or slow down the play and look to play in his teammates.
Diomande displayed excellent movement in the final third, notably on two occasions marauding between the two CBs and fashioning two-headed chances. One was a goal, which was brilliantly looped over the GK’s head in combination with his fantastic movement that gave the FC FC Nordsjælland CB, Kian Hansen, the opportunity to play a ball over the top and create the chance. While in the defensive phase, Diomande moved well in the defensive unit and applied pressure when appropriate.

Diomande is a good technical player whose first thought is to play forward. Diomande is yet another brilliant prospect coming through the Right To Dream & FC Nordsjælland system, who is destined to play at a higher level.
Move to Rangers FC
Diomande joined Rangers FC on loan in late January 2024, in a deal with an obligation to buy this summer for an undisclosed fee.
Manager Philippe Clement said, on the day of he signed: “I am really pleased to have been able to add Mohamed to our squad, and I am excited to see what he can bring to our team.
“In our conversations and what I have seen of him as a player, I believe he will be a real asset to us, not only in what remains of this season, but in the seasons to come also.
“I look forward to welcoming him to Glasgow, and to working with him on the training pitch soon.” Diomande made 19 total appearances and scored two goals for the Light Blues last season.

Diomande stands at roughly 1,83m, with an ectomorph physique. The Ivorian’s pace is nothing to write home about, but nevertheless, his long strides are relatively quick over longer distances. Diomande showed real quality with the ball at his feet.
International Career
Born in the Ivory Coast, Diomande is of Ghanaian descent. He was called up to the Ivory Coast U23s in March 2023. Diomande made his debut for the Ivory Coast national team on 7 June 2024 in a World Cup qualifier against Gabon at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium.
