Architectural Marvel and Design
The Luangwa Safari House has been designed to assault the senses from the minute you arrive. A strong, castle-like structure looms up in front of you. As you enter through the enormous pivoting door, light and grace fill the space, with the entire front of the house open to the wilderness. Tucked beneath the shady branches of huge trees at the foot of the Chindeni Hills, this castle-like villa has been inspired by the surrounding elements of nature.
Built around a frame of silvery, weathered leadwood tree trunks, Luangwa Safari House has been designed to reflect its wild setting. Ancient tree trunks form the frame of the house, while huge living areas offer magnificent views over the wilderness. The imposing two-story stone structure, designed by Neil Rocher, is set off against the backdrop of the Chindeni Hills and has four spacious, en-suite bedrooms each with their own private verandah.
You enter through massive wooden doors into a huge main room with views through the front of the house which is completely open. Each of the four bedrooms (sleeps 8) is uniquely and individually styled. Upstairs rooms have a suspended balcony with glorious views over the bush. It's a somewhat whacky but wonderfully designed property, perfect for small groups and families.

The villa’s modern and fully-equipped kitchen comes complete with a private chef who will serve delicious dishes whenever and wherever you want.
The facility itself was delightful - the views of game from the deck were excellent and the dipping pool was enjoyed by all. Adding to the immersive experience, the house boasts a private hide, cleverly built into the ground, where guests can observe elephants and other wildlife up close as they gather at the water.

Lucinda and the house staff really made us feel that this was our home for the duration of our stay. They left nothing wanting. The seamless way this team functioned and the obvious competence of everyone we interacted with just added to our experience.

Luangwa Safari House vs. Other Camps
While some visitors found Luangwa Safari House and Chongwe did not meet the same standard as their Botswana experience, overall the experience here was excellent. Our interaction with the non expats was excellent. Our guide, Simon, was experienced and knowledgeable and provided a superb trip to the Hot Springs area where we saw a day time Leopard Kill. However he could benefit from coaching on his interpersonal skills as, unattended, this could limit his career options.
