Important Information for Online Check-In:
- You only need your Passport (passport is not valid up to a minimum of six months), the E-ticket number or Booking Reference to make use of our online check-in services.
- For domestic flights, please check in online from 2 days before departure to 1 hour before departure.
- For international flights, please check in online 48 hours before departure until 2 hours before departure.
Reasons You May Not Be Able to Check-In Online:
Here are several possible reasons why you may not be able to check in online.

- You are not holding e-Ticket or you are originating from the following cities: Moscow, Bamako & Ndjamena.
- If the Booking code/PNR is not ticketed or if the VCR/ticket status is anything else except OK.
- It is possible that you are checking in for your flight out of the normal sequence of your itinerary.
- This is when the passenger booking is not qualified for online check-in. This could be when the booking is cancelled or it is not confirmed.
- Such error response will be displayed when the booking has a status of waiting list, reconfirmed or unable to confirm status.
- This means when a given passenger is restricted to make online check-in and in this case he/she has to check-in at the airport.
- This error happen when the passenger ticket is not eligible or it has status code other than OK such as NOGO,LFTD,RFND or CTRL.
- This happen when the Booking reference is not correct or when the booking reference is a past date.
- This includes various system error behind the scene and one or more system may not be working as expected.
If you fail to check in on time, you may be refused for carriage on your flight. This is in the interest of maintaining Ethiopian on-time performance and to ensure those on the flight who have connecting flights can make it on time. Depending on your fare conditions, a failure to check in on time may also result in the loss of the original fare value.

Key Features of ShebaMiles:
- Earning Miles: You will earn miles based on distance travelled and the fare class/booking class booked and shown on the air ticket. Not all fare classes are eligible to earn Miles.
- Status Miles: Status Miles are miles that are counted to achieve the different tier levels of the Program- Blue, Silver, Gold and Platinum. The more Status Miles you earn in a given program calendar year, the higher your membership tier.
- Tier Qualifying Segment: A tier Qualifying Segment is any Ethiopian Airlines flight excluding flights with award tickets.
ShebaMiles Membership Tiers:
There are four levels of ShebaMiles membership that determine the benefits you receive when you travel. When you first join the program, your default membership status is Welcome (entry level). From there, you can upgrade to Blue, Silver, Gold, and then Platinum.

Achievement of any ShebaMiles Tier depends on accrual of Status Miles or Qualifying Segments within a program calendar year- January 1st to December 31st.
Managing Your Miles:
- Mileage Credit: Mileage credit from flights can happen instantly on the activity date (Flight date) or a later date post the completion of the actual flight activity.
- Transferring Miles: You can transfer miles to another ShebaMiles member account by logging in to your account. Miles can only be transferred if the receiving account in Blue, Silver, Gold or Platinum tier status. The rate per mile is $18 per 1,000 miles.
- Extending Miles: The following activities are eligible to extend your expiring balance:
- Take the services of our non-air partners to earn miles and remain active.
- Buy at least 1,000 miles to remain active and your expiring miles will be extended by one additional year.
- Miles Validity: Miles earned in the ShebaMiles program are valid for 3 years excluding the year it was earned.
- Award Tickets: Yes, if you or your nominees have a confirmed Economy class ticket on Ethiopian or our Star Alliance partners.
