Ethiopian Immigration Office Services: A Comprehensive Overview

The Ethiopian Immigration Office provides a range of essential services to Ethiopians both at home and abroad. These services encompass refugee resettlement, digital embassy services, and assistance to Ethiopians living outside the country.

Refugee Resettlement and Support

At ECDC, there is a strong belief in the positive contributions that newcomers can make to improve the lives of others. ECDC resettles refugees and helps meet their immediate and longer-term needs through various programs. The organization and its partners strive to create communities that are kinder, stronger, and more vibrant.

ECDC has a network comprising 7 branch offices and 17 affiliate sites. These affiliate sites are independent, local organizations that partner with ECDC to provide resettlement and other services to newcomers. This network continues to grow to meet emerging needs.

There are many ways to support the work of ECDC, including contributing time, talent, or financial resources.

“We are so lucky to have the chance to come here, but emotionally, it is not easy…We are trying our best to cope with the situation, and we are delighted with the support that we are receiving from the local communities, from our response group, from the resettlement agencies, from the United States government.”

Digital Transformation of Embassy Services

Initially, a technology was created to transform every service provided at Ethiopian embassies worldwide into a fully digital system. The goal is to provide a convenient and pleasant experience for anyone requiring service from an Ethiopian embassy or consular office. Furthermore, this technology is expected to bring economic benefits back to Ethiopia.

As government representatives, the priority is to empower Ethiopian people, wherever they may be, by providing them with the best service possible.

Assistance to Ethiopians Abroad

The service assists Ethiopians living abroad and those of Ethiopian descent who do not leave the country for various reasons.

Mobile App for Proxy Services

In the past, the proxy process was often abusive to consumers, and it took more than 30 days to access the service. The new mobile app provides a much faster turnaround, typically 24-48 hours, for individuals seeking representation. This service assists in enforcing representations such as asset management, sales conversion, litigation, and other domestic matters.

We have now started a document authentication service via our Digital MOFA mobile app.
