The History of "Egypt" Fragrance by Albert Fouquet

“Egypt” is one of the most exclusive fragrances created by Albert Fouquet.

In 1935, Albert decided to fulfill a promise to visit a childhood friend in Egypt and accomplish one of his dreams at the same time. Fascinated with the Ancient Egyptian culture, he was overwhelmed to discover all of the essences and scents.

For Albert Fouquet, the visit was also an opportunity to travel to the birthplace of perfume. He wanted to research the essences that have been in use for thousands of years.

This wonderful visit was enriched from the moment Albert passed through the doorway approaching Ahmed’s home. The impressive garden of his villa contained dozens of flowers that were unknown to Albert.

Albert was overwhelmed by new sensations and when he was unable to extend his already lengthy visit, he planned a second trip four months later with the express intention of finding a unique perfume.

After several weeks of intense work in the villa of Ahmed, Albert Fouquet selected the final details of a new formula after returning to his chateau in Paris. "Egypt" became part of his exclusive and private perfume collection.

The scent of "Egypt" provides an olfactory experience that will take you on a journey through time. Stroll through sunny ancient Egypt.

Albert Fouquet: A Perfume Connoisseur

Albert Fouquet, the son of a Parisian aristocrat, was part of the elite French society in the early twentieth century and a perfume connoisseur.

Unfortunately, the success of his fragrance would not spread much further. In the spring of 1939, Albert died in an automobile accident near Biarritz (France). Phillipe, the only person who could handle the orders, would only continue with the work for a few months, since the start of World War II forced him to leave his job with the Fouquet family.

Decades later, the formula for "EIGHT & BOB" has been completely recovered, along with its carefully crafted production process.

The Discovery of Andrea

In January 1934, Albert Fouquet traveled to Chile at the invitation of the Italian ambassador. Besides enjoying the charms of the country, he took advantage of this trip to search the Andes for aromatic plants that would enhance his fragrances.

He returned to Paris with several sprigs of "Andrea", the name Albert had given the plant whose extracts are the soul of his fragrance "EIGHT & BOB".

Andrea is a wild and in short supply due to the altitude and limited area in which it grows; it can only be picked during the months of December and January. The plants gathered undergo a very exacting selection process in which only seven percent are chosen.

The rare Andrea plant, a key ingredient in some of Albert Fouquet's fragrances.
