Tipping in Egypt
Tipping is a common practice, with 10-15% being standard in restaurants and cafes. Loose change is acceptable in markets and at local food stalls. The precise amount is entirely a personal preference; however, USD $6-9 per person, per day can be used as a general guideline.

ATMs are readily accessible throughout Egypt, especially in the Red Sea region where most hotels have them. Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted. The official language is Arabic, with various dialects spoken. Other languages include Domari, Nobilin, Beja, and Siwi.
Water Safety
Drinking tap water is not recommended, especially in rural areas. Bottled water is the preferred choice. While Cairo's heavily-chlorinated water is technically safe, it's still advisable to avoid it.
