Elise Gillen Joins USF Volleyball: A Promising Career Ahead

The University of Sioux Falls (USF) Head Volleyball Coach Dan Mathews has announced the signing of six student-athletes, including Elise Gillen, who will continue their academic and athletic careers at USF. This announcement marks a significant step for USF Volleyball, with Coach Mathews expressing excitement about the new talent joining the team.

Elise Gillen: A Standout Setter

Elise Gillen is a two-sport (soccer and volleyball) standout from Slinger HS. A three-time All-North Shore Conference selection in volleyball, she set a school record for kills with 402 as a sophomore as an outside hitter. She received honorable mention all-state and all-conference recognition during her sophomore year. As a junior, she was named second-team all-state.

During her senior year, Gillen averaged 2.25 kills/set, hit .251, and had 2.4 digs/set, 8.75 assists per set, .5 blocks/set and 1.2 service aces/set. In soccer, she earned second team all-conference honors as a junior. Gillen was also a member of the Wisconsin Premier Club Team.

Coach Mathews shared his long-standing admiration for Elise Gillen: "I've known Elise since she was 14 years old. The first time I saw her play, I knew she was going to make a great college setter. Four years later, I can hardly believe that she'll be playing for our team."

Elise is the daughter of Jeff and Lisa Gillen, and has two sisters, Emily and Erin.
