Chad Osborne: A Life Remembered

Chad Eugene Osborne, aged 38, of Denver, Colorado, formerly of the Russiaville area, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2009, in Denver, Colorado.

Another Chad C. Osborne passed away on November 12, 2009. He was teaching high school English at Panorama High School in Los Angeles, CA, following his retirement as a college English professor.

Early Life and Education

Chad Eugene Osborne was born on February 17, 1971.

Chad C. Osborne prepared for Yale at Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, MD, held a University Gift Scholarship while at Yale and participated in Dwight Hall, Wesley Foundation and the Tutoring Program.

He graduated from Western High School in 1989 and Ball State University in 1994. He was a member of the state champion Western Marching Band in 1985 and 1988.

An English major, Chad knew by the time of our graduation that he would be continuing his studies at Stanford, where he earned an M.A. in English education in 1966. That led him to teach 11th grade high school English, earn an Ed.D. from the University of Massachusetts in 1977, and join the faculty of Worcester State College, where he rose to chairman of the Education Department.

Career

Chad Eugene Osborne was employed in Denver by AORN as a senior recruiter.

Health Challenges

In October of 2021, Chad was experiencing neck pain and visited an internal medicine doctor who referred him to an ENT. Two days later Chad was back in the ER and finally worked with infectious disease who diagnosed his neck with a staff infection. A couple of days after surgery, the ENT found cancer. They gave him a PET scan and found cancer was in his throat and gland.

Historically Chad had been very healthy and never needed to see a doctor.

After being discharged from the hospital, Chad aimed to flip three houses to cover his debts. However, the housing market shifted, leaving him in a difficult financial situation with recurring neck pain and insufficient funds for medical care.

Family

Chad Eugene Osborne was preceded in death by grandparents, Ralph and Doris Osborne, and Richard Critchley, and step-grandfather, James H.

Memorial Service

The memorial service was held on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at First Christian Church, 854 N. Malfalfa Road, (300 West), Kokomo, with the Rev. Ellen Anderson officiating. Burial followed at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation was held on Friday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Russiaville Chapel, 200 E.
