Chad Maes Obituary: Remembering a Passionate Golf Professional

It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Chad Charles Maes on May 16, 2024 in Cudjoe Key, Florida. Chad loved life and people; he never met a stranger. He left a lasting impression on all those who met him and was beloved by those who knew him.

Life and Career

Chad graduated from Ballston Spa High School and attended Methodist University, where he graduated with a degree in business administration and golf management in 1991. Chad went on to be a golf professional for his entire career. He enjoyed teaching and sharing the game that was his passion with others. He enjoyed setting up tournaments and events as well as the outdoor work associated with the course. When Chad wasn’t on the golf course you would find him with friends or family.

Family and Friends

Chad was preceded in death by parents: Michael and Betty Maes and brothers: Rodney and Jory Maes, as well as his first one eyed cat ‘the beast’. He is survived by brothers; Shawn Maes, Tom Oppedisano and Chuck McLoone, as well as his longtime friend and confidant Donna Halstead, and his second one eyed cat Mr. Jingles.

Melvin Victor Maes

Tustin - Melvin Victor Maes, longtime resident of the Tustin area, passed away at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. Melvin was born on December 10, 1957, in Wisconsin to Robert "Dale" and Lila (Staffne) Maes. He grew up and attended school in Marion. Melvin entered into marriage with the former Diane M.

Melvin made his living working at Ventra in Evart. He could often be found outdoors enjoying his passion for fishing at many of the area's lakes, and occasionally out on Lake Michigan. Melvin was part of the "Greasy Fingers", an antique tractor club, where he enjoyed showing, working on, and driving tractors. He also was able to be part of the Mackinac Bridge crossing, driving a tractor across the Mighty Mac for a number of years.

Melvin spent time riding and caring for the horses at home, watching and feeding the birds, and most importantly making memories with his family and loved ones. Melvin is survived by his loving wife, Diane M. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday April 18, 2025 at Dighton Wesleyan Church, with visitation one hour prior. Officiating will be Rev. The family is being served by the Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home.

David Maes

He was born August 6, 1955 in Logan, Utah the baby of 13 children to Antonio Manuel and Domietillia Martinez Maes. He grew up in Smithfield, Ogden, and Brigham City. Army in 1973, during the Vietnam Era and received an honorable discharge in 1976. In 1981, he married Debra Hymas, and from that union his son, the light of his life, Chad David Maes was born. They later divorced.

David married Debbie Coleman in 1997, and together they built a wonderful life. David started his career at Hill Air Force Base after he and Chad moved from Logan to Clinton. He retired in 2012 after over 30 years of service. He loved the outdoors; he was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. His favorite times were spent in the mountains at elk camp and more recently LaPlata.

He enjoyed spending weekends in the backyard, throwing horseshoes, “burning meat,” and entertaining his friends and family. David had a magnetic personality and special way with people making friends wherever he went. He was loved and admired by his many friends, family, and those he supervised. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. at the mortuary. The family thanks the nurses and staff at Utah Hematology and Oncology as well as the angels of Rocky Mountain Hospice.
