Dorothy May (Sykes) Karoub
Dorothy May (Sykes) Karoub, age 83, of West Branch, MI, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025. Dorothy had been a resident of Ogemaw County since 2000, previously residing in Huron Township, Westland, and Dearborn Heights.
Dorothy was a Floral Designer, Health Coach, an Artist and well known in the community for her talents offering painting classes through several venues. In her recent move to Victorian Trails in West Branch, she continued her flight as a social butterfly and joined every group they offered, sharing her love of art and making lasting friendships. In her health coach career, she cherished many loving friendships and looked forward to zooming with her health coach community.
Dorothy was active in the Dearborn Heights Jaycees/Jayceettes, the Fourth Street Gifts and Gallery, and Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church. Dorothy enjoyed bible study, painting, flower arranging, writing poetry, birdwatching, fishing, singing and dancing, gardening, game nights with family & friends, hosting Christmas Eve parties, and spending time with her kids, grandkids, family and friends- she was an all-around social butterfly.
Dorothy was predeceased by her high school sweetheart and husband of 51 years, Joseph Karoub of West Branch. Dorothy is survived by her second love, blessed by God, Richard Putnam, and her children, Dawn Karoub of Romulus, Mark (Kimberly) Karoub of Houghton Lake and Dr. Alan Karoub of Roscommon, grandchildren, Justin Karoub, Johnathon (Kelsey) Karoub, Joseph (Julie Reese) Bottoms, Samantha Karoub, Joshua Karoub, Marshall Karoub, Justin Bedard and great granddaughters Alennie Karoub and Lily West. Also surviving are her siblings Barbara (Gary) Grantham, Dr.

John B. Marquart
John B. Marquart, 53 years of Morgantown, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 23, 2023. He was born in Camp Hill, PA on Friday, September 12, 1969. John was the son of Barbara (Witmer) Stokes of Mechanicsburg and John C. and his wife Jackie Marquart of Camp Hill. He was the husband of Kiersten H.
John was Director of Enterprise Architecture with Solenis. He was a graduate of Penn State University, with a master’s degree. John was a US Navy and Army National Guard veteran.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of the life of John B. Marquart to be held at the Marquart Family Home on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 5 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of John B. Marquart to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, PO Box 69, Mohnton, Pa. 19540-0069.
John was always just a pleasure to work with and was so well respected and liked by his Solenis family. Kiersten, my heart breaks for you and your family. May your many memories and the heartfelt love of your friends and family offer you comfort. My deepest condolences to your family. Although I didn't know John personally, I know he was a good brother to Teresa. I hope it helps to know you are all in your thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.
