Remembering Chad Kirkland and Chad Galey: Two Lives, Two Legacies

Gulf Shores, Alabama

On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, Chad Kirkland of Gulf Shores, Alabama, suffered a massive stroke. He passed away holding his wife’s hand at 10:32 am on July 4, 2023. Chad leaves behind his wife, Heather Mize Kirkland, whom he deeply loved and cherished. He is also survived by his son, Paul Jackson Kirkland, age 17, and his daughter, Marigrace Kirkland, 15.

Paul and his dad were best friends. They enjoyed fishing, hunting, surfing, going to concerts, listening to music, and playing pool together. Chad also leaves behind about 15 of Paul’s friends whom he loved like sons and daughters. Marigrace was his special princess, and he cherished watching her grow into a beautiful young lady. He loved to travel with her, take her to hunting camps, teach her to drive, and shoot a gun.

Chad fought hard to stay with his family, but God chose to take him home. The family wishes to honor his friends and memories and requests that any donations be made to help with medical and future education expenses for the children. Kind words, photos, and stories about Chad are also appreciated.

Chad Eric Galey

Harrison County Courthouse in Cadiz, Ohio

Chad Eric Galey, 49, of Cadiz, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at his home following an accident. Chad was born May 31, 1974, in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of Terry Galey of Cadiz and the late Wanda S. Robinson Galey. Chad was a staff sergeant for 3 ½ years in the United States Army.

Surviving are his father and step-mother, Terry and Barbara Galey of Cadiz; a brother, Bret and his wife Kelly Galey of Medina; nieces and nephew: Andria, Audri and Autumn Galey and Owen and Olivia Ferris; Uncles: Gary (Kathy) Robinson of Cadiz and Ronald Robinson of St. Clairsville, Ohio; Aunts, Virginia (Michael) Crosby of Columbus and Donna Wyckoff-Wheeler of Johannesburg, South Africa; and uncle, Rob (Glenda) Galey of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Calling hours were held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 3-5 at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home. with Rev. Ashley Steele officiating.
