Chad Gritzmaker Obituary

Chad was born on September 2nd, 1974, in Sioux City, IA, the son of Gerald and Glenda (Felix) Gritzmaker.

He attended Bishop Heelan high school where he wrestled.

He was a lifelong fan of all things Bishop Heelan and his Catholic education of discipline.

Chad was a great golfer and enjoyed this past-time with his friends in both Sioux City and Corning.

He loved tennis and fulfilled a bucket list item attending Wimbledon.

He enjoyed traveling the world, especially beach vacations where he fell in love with his wife Ashley.

Chad was married to Ashley Anne Neils on May 18th, 2013, at Blessed Sacrament in Sioux City, Iowa.

They resided there for many years.

He did anything and everything for Banks.

Chad is survived by his wife, Ashley, and their son Banks Gritzmaker.

Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at a later date.

Separately, we also remember Christine Fay Gritzmaker, age 52, who passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, February 19, 2015.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Gritzmaker.

Christine will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Wayne and Penny Gritzmaker; sisters, Doreen McDonald, Shelly Gritzmaker, Cindy & Terry Dillon; aunt, Elizabeth Hansma; brothers, Randy & Lori Oom, Richard Oom Jr.; nieces, Linda Gritzmaker, Amber & Chad Weeks, Rachael Dillon, Katie McDonald; nephews, Mike Gritzmaker, Travis Dillon, Ronald May; 7 great nieces and nephews; special friends, Wendy Winegar and Tom Caniff.

As Christine had wished cremation has taken place.

A memorial gathering was held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 28 at 59 S. Main Street, Rockford, MI.

Those who wished may make memorial contributions to assist the family with expenses.

Additionally, we note the passing of John A. Huecker, age 82, of McCartyville, Ohio, who died on Sunday, July 20.2025 at Wilson Hospital, Sidney, Ohio.

He was born on April 17, 1943 in Anna, Ohio to the late Arthur & Adele (Poeppelman) Huecker.

He married Marlene Martz on November 16, 1968 and she survives in McCartyville.

He is also survived by children: Jeff Huecker, Anna, Mike & Christa (Frazier) Huecker, Anna, Jill & Brian Ikenberry, Miamisburg, Monica & Eric Walling, Xenia, Joe Huecker, Anna, grandchildren, Sebastian Walling & fiancée Hannah Reed, Dustin Walling & Scarlett Smith, Lincoln Gessler, siblings: Mary Jo & Lavern Poeppelman, Ft. Loramie, Larry Huecker, McCartyville, Janet & Denny Aselage, Sidney.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister-in-law Susan Huecker.

John was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville, past parish council president, lay minister, and a former member of the Mission Commission.

He was a member of the K of C McCartyvillem, the National Guard Piqua Battery C and a former member of the zoning board of appeals in Franklin Twp.

He worked at LeRoi, Sidney and for 9 years at NPK Manufacturing.

He was a graduate of Anna High School and Northwest Ohio Business College.

He enjoyed playing cards and following the Anna Rockets.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:30 AM Friday, July 25, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, McCartyville, Ohio with burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Friends called at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster, on Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM and at SACRED HEART OF JESUS CHURCH, McCartyville on Friday, July 25, 2025 from 9 to 10 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
