Chad Credeur Arrest: Details of Lafayette Triple Homicide Suspect's Past

The Acadiana area was rocked by the news that three victims, Brandon Touchet, Eric Green, and Beth Reames had been shot to death in Reames' apartment on South College Road. The Lafayette Police Department confirmed the identities of two men killed in a recent triple homicide in Lafayette. The victims, identified as Brandon Touchet, 45, and Eric Green, 49, both residents of Lafayette, were found deceased in a home on the 700 block of S. College Road following a welfare check initiated late Friday afternoon. The call, which came in at approximately 5:26 PM on April 12, led officers to the residence where they discovered three bodies. The identity of the third victim has yet to be released as police continue their investigation.

Authorities have arrested Chad Credeur, 42, of Duson, LA, under suspicion of first degree murder in connection with the deaths. The Lafayette man who is a suspect in the Friday, April 12 triple homicide on South College Road was arrested in a shooting that happened in May of 2020. Credeur is currently held in Jeff Davis Parish on unrelated charges.

According to Sergeant Robin Green with the Lafayette Police Department, the three were mutual friends with the suspect in the case Chad Credeur. A motive for the crime has not been determined. Green says Credeur was found in possession of identification of all three victims and some of their personal items.

Credeur's Previous Arrest for Attempted Murder

The other shooting for which Credeur was arrested happened in the 400 block of Lourdes Street on May 9, 2020, according to Lafayette Police officials. On Saturday, May 9 in the 400 block of Lourdes Street, officers said that two people were arguing when one allegedly shot the other in the stomach with a handgun. The suspect, identified as Credeur, then fled the scene, police said. The victim was treated at a local hospital.

During the 2020 event, Lafayette Police officials alleged that Chad Credeur pulled a gun on the victim when the verbal fight there were having escalated. They say he pulled out a handgun and shot the victim in the stomach. A witness then told police Credeur fled the scene.

Two days later, members of the Western District of Louisiana US Marshal Violent Offender Task Force arrested Credeur two days after the shooting. Credeur was arrested on a charge of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. According to KADN, Credeur was supposed to have gone to trial on that charge in March. When he failed to show up for his trial, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

Credeur was arrested in Calcasieu Parish on a firearms charge. He was charged with Possession of a Firearm with a Controlled Dangerous Substance.

The case has taken a tragic turn as it involves Brandon Touchet, who had been reported missing since Wednesday evening. Sanders reflected on the overwhelming support: “So many people I never met helped by sharing. I often wondered how a parent can handle the pain. Now we have to learn... He loved us all and we loved him.”

Sanders asked for privacy during this difficult time and shared a poignant message: “Hug your children and don’t let go.”

Back in February of this year, a video surfaced of a man walking around the apartment complex with a rifle. It was captured on a Ring video. At the time, police said the man wasn't doing anything illegal, but they encouraged people to call Crime Stoppers to try to identify the man as it was concerning to them.
