Mark worked as a police officer for the city of Lincoln from 1973 through 2002. After taking early retirement he continued in law enforcement working for the State of Nebraska Insurance Fraud Prevention unit. He fully retired in 2019 and spent his remaining years enjoying traveling with Marge, adding stamps to his National Park Passport, camping with family and friends, and spending time enjoying his seven grandchildren.
He was a man of God, faithful husband, dad, grandpa, and friend. He married Marjorie Kohlmeier of Columbus on June 29, 1974, and they settled in Lincoln where they have resided for the last 49 years.

Mark served his community well and was recognized by his peers for his devotion to his faith and family. It was just one example of his giving nature. He was “good police” and a better man.

Mark's impact extended beyond his professional life. He is survived by his loving wife Marge and his two children, Ben and his wife Lyn (Klein) and their two daughters and two sons, and Lori and her husband Chad Beerenstrauch along with their daughter and two sons. During that time I was blessed to see the loving and caring father and the strong Christian role-model he was for his kids. Mark was always so kind and soft spoken.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Mark was one of my first training officers when I joined LPD. Valuable lessons were provided by him. This world just lost a very special man who was a man of God, a faithful and loving husband and father, one of the best policemen Lincoln ever had and the list could go on and on.
In the end, Mark met his Creator and will be living forever in Heaven with Him in all His glory. Until you are reunited with Mark in that very special place, Marge, Ben and Lori….take heart that you will have such great memories that you all made together through your tears and smiles about Mark. Alvina Breuer, who passed away on February 26, 2025, at the age of 96, exemplifies a life dedicated to family and faith. Alvina Delaine Wentler was born Dec 6, 1928, in Appleton, MN, the daughter of Emra & Verna (Horton) Wentler. Alvina married Roland Breuer June 27, 1947, in Sioux City, IA.
To this union four sons were born, Michael, David, Douglas, and Rodger. Alvina was employed over the years in such places as The Cafe, Preebs, Campbell Soup, & Sather Cookie Company. But she mostly enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom & housewife taking care of her family. She enjoyed gardening, fishing & especially going to Bingo with her sister Alvera. Alvina was a member of the St Andrew’s Catholic Church of Sibley for over 70 years.
Alvina is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Michael & Lorena (Renie) of Columbus NE, David & Charlotte (Char) of Norfolk, NE, Douglas & Dee of Sibley IA, & Rodger & Bonnie of Sioux City IA.
