Chad and Tara's story is one of serendipitous encounters, enduring friendship, and a love that blossomed against all odds. From accidental meetings at parties to a life-altering night at a concert, their journey is a testament to the power of connection and the beauty of shared adventures.
The Night That Changed Everything
Chad and Tara first met in 2014 through mutual friends and quickly became weekend regulars in the same circle-just two friends who always seemed to end up at the same parties, bonfires, and late-night hangouts. For two years, that’s all it was… until one unforgettable night in October 2015. They were at a glow concert in Providence, RI with friends. What no one knew at the time-not even Chad and Tara-was that this night would change everything.
After the concert, they were crashing at a friend’s house. But instead of sleeping, the two of them stayed up all night-watching movies, laughing, and talking about everything and nothing. Somewhere between the jokes and the quiet moments, it hit them: maybe this friendship was meant to be something more.
Chad & Tara’s First Year Dating
Chad asked Tara to be his girlfriend on January 24, 2016-and the adventure immediately took off. That first year included parasailing, apple picking, and, of course, the infamous Red Sox game. Some say it was… memorable. Ask the groom for the full story-if you know, you know.
Somehow, instead of running for the hills, Tara just rolled with it. It’s one of those memories that’s now legendary (and surprisingly funny… depending on who’s telling it). Moral of the story? True love is patient, kind, and occasionally requires emergency purse replacement.

The Dreaded Long Distance Years
After making things official, Chad and Tara quickly became inseparable-well, except for the whole “living in different states” part. While Chad was working full-time as a plumber in Massachusetts, Tara was up at the University of New Hampshire hitting the books. They made the long-distance thing work like pros-visiting each other every other weekend, taking turns making the drive, and surviving on FaceTime calls every night.
After four long years of highway miles and Sunday goodbyes, Tara graduated a semester early in December 2020 and officially moved back to Massachusetts to live with Chad at his dad’s house. Pictured above is Tara’s graduation ceremony in May 2021. Just a few months later, in August 2021, Tara started her teaching career, and for the two of them, it felt like a brand-new beginning!
The Life of Two D.I.N.K.s
In August 2021, Chad took the plunge and bought his mom’s house. It was a huge step, but the two of them were ready for it-figuring out how to make it their own, decorating, and making memories in a home that held so many already. Soon after, they kicked off a series of adventures that stretched into the next few years.
They spent Christmas 2021 in Vail, Colorado with family, hit Portland, Maine a couples trip in May 2021, and Marthas Vineyard in June with friends. By November, Tara and Chad celebrated their first Thanksgiving in their new home, soaking in all the little traditions they were starting to build. In summer 2023, they saw Chris Stapleton in concert (which was epic), then took a getaway to Boothbay, Maine with friends. Each summer, Portland became their go-to spot, which has become an annual tradition they still can't shake. And, of course, they went all the way to St. Maarten for a tropical adventure in March 2024.
Throughout it all, they worked hard, settled into their home, and-of course-had a lot of fun along the way. But even with all their adventures, there was something missing...

Room for One More?
By June 2024, Chad and Tara decided it was time to expand their family-and no, it wasn’t a baby… it was a dog. After some serious thought, they met Honey, a yellow lab, and it was love at first sight. From the moment they saw her, they knew she was the one… and the fact that she couldn’t calm down for even a second at the meet and greet was a good sign. This was their crazy girl in the making.
Anyone who knows Honey knows exactly what they’re talking about. Whether she’s tearing through the house with the zoomies, destroying every toy in her path (RIP), or chugging an entire bowl of water in one go (seriously, is that normal?), she’s full of energy and personality. Tara spent her summer off raising Honey, and it wasn’t long before she became a full-fledged member of their family.
But, of course, no family addition is without a little drama-like the great last-name debate. Would it be Honey Henshaw or Honey Conway-Bull? Well, let’s just say that question didn’t remain unanswered for too long.
3,351 Days of Dating… But Who’s Counting?
The great last-name debate didn’t last too long-because on March 28, 2025, Chad proposed. And yes, it was chaotic, emotional, and perfect in every way.
Let’s rewind: Tara knew something was up. Chad kept insisting he couldn’t afford a ring, and was acting weird about his phone. Red flag #1? On March 26th, he went to show her Honey’s first birthday photos… and quickly hid his phone from Tara, realizing that he had a picture of the ring on this camera roll (OMG). Suspicion levels: HIGH. And to top it off, they were heading to Nantucket for what was supposedly Chad’s birthday trip. Sure, Chad.

But then came the morning of the proposal, on a walk with their friends & the dogs-when Chad fake got down on one knee. For a glorious 0.2 seconds, Tara lit up with joy… followed by crushing disappointment. Because HOW DARE YOU, SIR. She calmly talked Tara off the ledge and explained that Chad was buying a ring, but it wouldn’t happen for a few months. Also, Tara was hating her nails that weekend, and Caitlyn sealed the deal with the now-iconic line: “Do you really think I’d let you get engaged with those ugly f***ing nails?” Tara believed her. Suspicion: gone. Engagement? Canceled. Time to relax and drink her feelings in peace.
Fast forward to pre-dinner drinks: Tara is two cosmopolitans deep, laughing off the fake proposal trauma. Meanwhile, Chad is nervously chugging wine like he’s training for the cabernet Olympics. After drinks, the group suggests checking out a beach where they planned to bring the dogs the next day. Tara, two martinis in and not at all suspicious anymore, was like, “Beach? YES!”
Even when Brian (groomsman, co-conspirator) suggested they check out the lighthouse “because you can climb inside it,” she was still clueless. She was ready for a mini-tourist adventure, not a life-changing moment.
Then… it happened. Suddenly, Chad was on one knee. Caitlyn was sprinting down the beach with her camera like she was training for a rom-com. Tara was shocked. Forgot to say yes. Didn't even look at the ring. Just vibes and tears everywhere. Later, Chad admitted he had a whole speech prepared, but could barely get the words Will you marry me? out.
Moral of the story? The imperfect moments were absolutely perfect. Just like the last 3,351 days.
Proposal Tips - Ultimate Guide To Plan The Perfect Proposal. 9 Tips
Plan a Wedding in 5 months? Bet.
After 9 years together, Tara had been ready-so once the ring was on her finger, it was go time. Within a month of the proposal, she and Chad had their venue locked down: LaBelle Winery in Derry, NH. The countdown is officially on, and they cannot wait to celebrate with all of their favorite people on September 19, 2025. There will be love, laughter, wine-and if you know Tara, definitely a few happy tears. If you know Chad, probably some chaotic, rhythmless dance moves.
