Sanctuary Zein Nile Chateau: A Jewel on the Nile

Epic Highs & Unwelcome Lows I Had Cruising the Nile!

For an even more exclusive experience, consider the Sanctuary Zein Nile Chateau. This boat is mostly used for private charters, which given the amenities, the service, and outstanding cuisine is not as pricey as one might expect (full charters start at $33,000 for three nights).

Sanctuary Zein Nile Chateau

There are three decks on the boat, the main one being an open living and dining area with floor-to-ceiling glass doors and windows to maximize views. At the front is a covered outdoor seating area with a daybed, tables and chairs, and a few loungers. The main indoor public space is open and bright, with one long table for dining and a large lounge area with comfortable couches and chairs for relaxing, playing board games, or watching movies at night.

Five of the six cabins are on the first deck, right at water level. The Napoleon Suite, a surprisingly spacious 462-square-foot cabin with a black iron-framed bed, a daybed-style couch and comfortable chair, a dressing area with plentiful closets, and, best of all, a large bathroom with an oversize tub with its own water-level window that allows you to soak in privacy without giving up the views.

The largest suite, the 1,000-square-foot Farouk Suite, decorated in 19th century-inspired regal Egyptian decor, is at the aft of the main level, with floor-to-ceiling windows, a large separate living area, and even an extra half bath in addition to the ensuite with a soaking tub. The other four cabins, at 215 square feet each, are smaller but comfortable, and each has its own theme and decor unique to the region.

The A&K Experience

Abercrombie & Kent (A&K) is considered best in class when it comes to escorted travel. Thanks to A&K’s private docks and a boat small enough to make landings where most river cruise ships can’t stop, you are able to dodge the crowds without missing the most popular-and some of the more hidden-attractions along the Nile.

From the Luxor temple (with its famous obelisk) to the Speos of Horemheb, a temple dating back to 1,300 B.C. built in a cave that is almost hidden along the banks of the Nile near the much bigger temple of Kom Ombo, the onboard expert Egyptologist brings the history of it all to life.

At the Valley of the Kings, you can gain private access to the tomb that holds King Tut’s mummy. This is an almost unheard of stroke of luck considering that the privilege of gaining private access to the tomb that holds King Tut’s mummy at the Valley of the Kings usually costs thousands of dollars.

Each day the expert onboard chef and his crew serve a fresh parade of dishes like shawarmas, falafel, eggplant, and lamb. Traveling with a professional outfit like A&K makes for a very complex journey.

Book now: Prices for A&K’s “Petra to the Pyramids,” 13-day tour with four nights aboard the Sanctuary Zein Nile Chateau start at $17,495 per person.

  • Wonderful Mediterranean Cruise: Overall my husband and I enjoy sailing with celebrity as this was our fourth time sailing with this ship line. I think sometimes the excursions are a bit pricey and more time needs to be spent in certain areas than others. Overall, our experience was good. I would totally recommend celebrity cruises.
  • Super Relaxing in the South Pacific: A fantastic, laid-back escape through the islands - plenty of space onboard, friendly crew, and the best entertainment team we’ve had in years. Eddie the Cruise Director was a legitimate tough guy of comedy - sharp, dry, and brilliant. The ship looked immaculate, food in the buffet was top-notch, and the vibe was pure South Pacific relaxation. If you want an easy, classy break sailing from Sydney, this one’s a winner. 🌴⚓
  • Nice Ship, Loved the Stops/Excursions: This cruise included much European history and showed many ruins that are still in great shape. we enjoyed seeing croatia, montenegro, and the stops in greece. Excursions kept us busy most days, but warm enough most days to sit by the pool for an hour or two before getting ready for dinner. highly recommend this cruise for the ship, but also for nice selections on adriatic ports.
  • Great Cruise to Amazing Places!: What a wonderful cruise! The ports, service, and food were outstanding. We book Aqua Class for the food and service in Blu, and it exceeded our expectations. We chose this particular cruise for the itinerary, and it was amazing. The weather was perfect - low 70s F and mostly sunny every day. We spent time in Bologna and Venice before the cruise and one night in Athens after - all very deserving of the hype they get! The only minor disappointment on the cruise was that here was only one full production show (including singers, the orchestra, dancers, acrobats, and aerialists). Rock City was great, but we would have preferred to see the other production shows instead of some of the guest performers. It was a staffing issue and it didn’t significantly impact our cruise. Eclipse is a well laid out ship and we enjoyed many venues, especially the Solarium, Ensemble Lounge, and World Class Bar. We are booked on a cruise on Ascent with a similar itinerary but mostly different ports for this same time next year. We are excited to try Aqua Class on Ascent!
