Discover Authentic Ethiopian Cuisine at The Blue Nile in Ann Arbor

If the occasion is special, so should be the place. Dining at the Blue Nile is an authentic taste of Ethiopia.

Ethiopian Food

For more than 40 years, The Blue Nile has shared bold Ethiopian flavors, communal dining, and a rich cultural experience. Festive artwork decorates the walls, and the glow of painted lights and intricate curtains accent the ambiance with touches of the exotic.

A Unique Dining Experience

There are no utensils; you eat by scooping up veggies and meat with a spongy flatbread. Kind of --I don't know-- sensual...

My husband and I decided to stop here and finally try Ethiopian food. Ezana was our waiter for the evening and he was amazing. Ezana explained each dish to us and checked back with us several times to make sure we were enjoying our meal. As long as you are adventurous, you should not leave hungry because the vegetable options are unlimited amounts.

The staff go out of their way to make you comfortable and educate you on the menu. Excellent excellent service.

Ambiance and Atmosphere

Great atmosphere for dates, very chill and quieter than other restaurants. Nice place to have a conversation and slow dinner. Rustic but fancy. Basic but dignified.

Popular for first dates, blind dates, and re-igniting weary flames, The Blue Nile is the perfect place to break the ice.

I really recommend everyone who has never tired Ethiopian food to come here; it is so good and so fresh and flavorful. I took my best friend who has never had African style food and she loved it too and the food is authentic and the place is beautifully decorated so worth the visit! So different, a "must" to just give it a try.

I'm so glad there's one in Ferndale! This place is amazing.
